Good Morning!

Post by Killerbunny » Mon Mar 28, 2016 10:58 am

Funny how soon they start to strut. This year if I hatch any I'm goin to try sexing at day old. Last year I noticed that some poults have a broader base to the little nub above their beak, wondering if they're boys? Will report back!

Aww... love kitties. I love the calico female. No... don't need any kitties yet. My barn guys, well, 2 of them are getting up in years.... the one is just plain useless and FAT, and the other, is so thin.... (vet told me at needling that it has the worst heart murmmer shes heard... so maybe that expains it... they've been wormed/ivomec'd...). And, we have a young stray boy, who is about 5 maybe? We will need some someday. But.. it will be all fixed females. Had enough of lazy fixed boys.

Rained lots here last night. Currently babysitting Nolan, Addison, and Sawyer. Pretty damn handy I am.

My parents are coming from Paisley to get their Taxes done in Dundas. Surely there are tax people in Port Elgin, or Southampton? Oh well. All their Dr's and lawyer are down this way as well. Not only that, all their friends. So... they are coming down today, for that, and tomorrow for a funeral. Glad they have nothing better to do, than make a 3 hour trip down two days in a row. Dads not THAT old... 77 this year... but has pretty bad COPD.... no oxygen yet... but so many puffers/drugs. Sheesh. Guess he should have stayed QUIT of smoking, when he did quit. Quit for 12 years, had a tumour off his lung... it was benign... and then started smoking again? WTF??

I have to get turkey eggs ready in the morning to ship out to PEI. Ugh. I knew there was a reason I didn't want to EVER ship eggs, lol. Oh well. This will probably be the first and last time. Then head out to Hamilton Airport to take them to Purolator, and figure out how I will get them out.. cost... days... insurance... blah blah blah. I have NO idea what to do.

But.. its so wet out today. Blech. It was NOT warm here yesterday. They were calling for 16C yesterday, but it only got to 7C, and the damned wind blew... so it felt like 5C. The sun was out... the bees were out... but honestly, you can only put up with so much cold wind blowing, no matter how nice and sunny it was. The last of the ice at the very top of the spruce trees melted off too. Still piles of it under trees tho.

I have alot of eggs saved up to incubate. Some are getting old. I would suspect nearly over 2 weeks.. so want to get the bators fired up. Figured if I was hatching, would get all 3 going. Why? I have no idea, lol. Probably because I can.

I have NO pens for any new birds either. So, will likely sell a few chicks. I do have lots of palm turkey poults I could sell tho!! They are so cute.

LOL, nope, not yet. ALL my chickens chase the cats, and the dog. I am sure, new cats/kittens wherever they come from, will be taught how it is... someday, lol. Tempting tho.

FYI... Kathy is a sucker for kitties too. AND her arm has not been having to be twisted too hard, for her to accept cats.

WLLady.. you KNOW its true, lol.
