Congratulations Ross and Donna!!
The Piknik was loads of fun! I *almost* decided not to make the long drive Saturday morning-- chicks due to hatch and I could hear them starting to peep, and Aggie the goat ready to kid again any second...but I managed to convince myself that everybody would get along ok without me for a couple of days, had my son to look in on all the critters, and he's really good about it. We left WLLady and Poultry_admin's lovely place about 6:30 a.m., and got home about 1:30 Sunday aft., light traffic most of the way, and probably could have cut another hour off our time if we hadn't stopped so much to stretch.
Got home and checked critters, two chicks still working on hatching, the rest out and healthy, only two dead in she'll. Good hatch. And, Aggie has new twins, one of each I believe. I SWEAR she knows when I'm unavailable and deliberately chooses that time. This is the fifth time someone gave birth to kids, and I've missed it EVERY time.
After critter check was naptime, and then off to the drive-in to see a triple feature. Didn't get back until after 3 a.m. today, did NOT try out the backseat of the rental car LOL, but was fun in any case!
The food and the company, and the entire Piknik experience was awesome AGAIN, and I'm already looking forward to next year!
Thrilled to finally meet in person people I've felt like I've known already for years, especially Ross, and I absolutely HAVE to have HappyHomesteaders' recipe for raspberry crumble.
I did NOT buy any birds, and made myself stop looking at turkeys before I changed my mind. There was this one peach coloured Jenny....*sigh* :smilewithrooster:
Jaye made me her ingenious "wooly hen", and all the chicks figured it out fast. Newly hatched (except for the two still finding their land legs) were put in with the older set and lone duckling, and everybody is using it and getting along exceptionally well. Thanks so much Jaye and hubby!
And yes, Martin's beer was VERY good. Excellent.
Everything was excellent, except the comfort of the rental car, but it was more than worth it!!
I have some pictures, they're on Richard's phone, and he's at work: hopefully I can get them loaded before I leave for my own job, if not, it will be early tomorrow.
