Good Morning!

Post by Brebis » Tue Mar 01, 2016 2:42 pm

Luckily the hen that brooded the poult only had one to deal with and its funny even now when the rooster calls for treats, this big Tom turkey comes running over to see what he has! Can't imagine what the poor hen thinks when there are 5 of them!

I do really think mine were starving-laying gasping on the floor....eyes closed....limp....cold....even under heat...sigh. once warmed up and force fed some water electrolytes with some sugar they seem fine. Food is disappearing from the bottom of the incubator....

Good Morning!

My baby is home for her reading week. Picked her up Friday night...she has been to bed every night between 10 and 11 and been sleeping until afternoon every day. She had one midterm exam on Thursday and 3 on Friday so she is just exhausted. Three more the week she gets back so still lots of studying to do.

I made the best batch of scalloped potatoes ever on Saturday for her birthday supper! We had nine for dinner so I needed a big batch, she also wanted flattened chicken, for that sized group that meant two, so how was I going to cook a big batch of scalloped potatoes and two flattened chickens in one oven? I don't like doing scalloped p,s in the slow cooker because they go black before they start to cook...and I HATE under cooked S.P. I figured I could use my crock pot pot and cook them in the oven then keep them warm with the crock pot while the chickens cooked. So had the potatoes in the oven early, moved them out an hour before dinner was served. Put them in the crock pot on high to bring them back to temperature. They turned this beautiful nut brown colour, got caramelized all the way up the sides...and tasted AMAZING. The chickens were wonderfully moist and topped it off with homemade carrot cake. ROCKED THIS DINNER PARTY !!!!

Good morning! At 8pm lol
i just put a batch of brownies in the oven (not the kids group...the other kind). Its freezing rain like mad here. Everything was coated in about a 1/2 inch when i finished chores and it was still coming down from the east. Then the wind changed and bow its coming down from the west. And the wind is really picking up out there too.... I am so glad we built this barn!!! Sooo nice! I can listen to the weather and stay dry and out of the wind. Its wonderful. Turkeys are finally doing great. But staying in the incubator another day...everything is sheet ice and i wont get to the barn again tonight. Horses were soaked and standing inside-first time ever! At least they are out of the weather. 2 batches of antibiotics in and FINALLY starting to feel more human. Yuck. I hate strep throat. Just plain nasty. Sure hope this doesnt take long to go away.

OC hows the arm doing? FRF hows the knee-or i guess the recovery since the knee was replaced.....? Gads we sound like a group of falling apart old people lol.

Well folks if you dont need to go out...stay home. Stay safe and warm! March in like a lion means it goes out nice and warm. Crazy weather report says -16 here..... not sure i believe that quite yet...but nice again next week.
Have a great night everyone. Rhonda-you will bring those sp to the bbq right? They sound divine.

Thanks for asking....annoying....to say the least, not sure how I will survive another 3 weeks, mostly no pain, but putting together
breeding pens by proxy may shorten my marriage considerably :)
We do sound a bit like a recovery group ;) as long as we keep improving.....?
FRF did you get any physio ?

I think they can call us the gibble gang OC!!! LOL

Yes did the physio, had in home come for 6 weeks by CCAC through OHIP and then to a private physio twice a week just until this past week. I am at 110 degree bend on my own, my other knee I am at 116 and they say you should have 120. I will get the new one to 116 as it gets stronger and heals. Still doing exercises on my own.

OC just say to your hubby "if the shoe was on the other foot"........LOL

Horses are upright in the hay so looks like theyre ok. Sun coming out...turkeys and deer on the move heading south...its warmer south right?
Hope everyone survived! And hope its not too bad east of here!!!

thats a pretty pic Kathy! well apparently the brunt of the storm missed us and we didn't get much snow.... but we got that freezing rain so theres a sheet of ice under it. buses were canceled due to road conditions. but theres still enough snow to play with the snow blower LOL.

Have a good and safe day everyone.
