Awesome baby turkey congrats!!!
Sandy, I know nothing about broody hens, but when I use to breed python snakes, they don't normally eat during breeding season, plus females often do not eat when gravid (pregnant) and if you let a female python incubate her eggs they do not eat at all when incubating, only drink a bit of water. And before anyone asking, yes pythons after laying their eggs coil on top of their eggs and with muscle contractions can raise the temperature of the eggs.
Normally I incubated the eggs in an incubator, but if left with the mother, then the female snake would not eat for approximately 6 months. I know totally different than a bird, but point is animals are smarter or have better instincts than we give them credit for. Best to let them do their thing.
