Diligently follow the path of two swords as one. Percieve that which the eye cannot see. Seek the truth in all things. Do not engage in useless activity.

Ha! There's the cheeky Baron I like so much!
No man talk. It's forbidden. Call it what you like but the risk remains the same if you enter.
C'mon in. See if we are making voodoo dolls or the caldron is cooking your last supper or not.

NEW improved cast ( $40) put on by Army medic, good to know our healthcare system knows where to go to find help. ;)
Gee nobody offered me a choice of color?

Bright and sunny here......
Glad you got some good meds Kathy, sorry it took them so long to figure what you need.
I have seen truck drivers underestimating a bridge hight, mistaking road for a river is a new one, Thanks for the chuckle.

Sandy, it was bound to happen eventually...do keep an eye, that she gets off the nest occasionally, Silkies get a bit intense when broody, you may want to talk to Doug.

thegawd wrote:QR_BBPOST Shirley..... what was the total bill on that? is it a gm? 1500- 4L60E? or 2500 4l80e? was there 8 or 9 codes with that torque converter clutch silinoid being one? was it getting stuck in 3rd without the speedometer or the light to tell you what gear your in? if so it was loosing lower... the pink wire that runs to the round plug is the power for the tranny.... could be as simple as the plug coming loose or a broken wire.

I spent $3000 to have my tranny in my truck professionally rebuilt heavy duty, and that included a tow of about 60 kms on a flat bed... didnt turn a wrench and I couldnt be happier. this was at transmission direct in strathroy... they have been building race trannys since the 60's. mom n pop shop these guys are amazing.

I feel like he got ripped right off and what exactly did they do?

heres a webpage with 30 common 4L60E tranny problems.

I have no idea really, what his truck is... know its a Ford. 150. Not a small truck either. I've driven a normal 150, this thing is huge. Not sure what the total $$ it will be. Was quoted $3200 and ended up being $3400 and something. I've texted him... see if he answers. Ok.. its a 5.4 Platinum
He spelled it that way, probs wrong, lol. That was before he had to take it in again. He hasn't heard anything back yet.....

Oh... he said that 60km an hour was the fastest he could go, without reving the F out of the motor. No light to tell him what gear he was in.

Ok... edited this like... 5 times, lol. 5.4 triton. And, does the webpage you didn't include... do Ford trucks? LMAO.

HAHA well I have no clue about fords but i do believe they circle the problem for you! hahaha hahahahahahaha hahaha! ok not fair but couldnt resist.

:rofl1:

it does sound like it lost power though. without power the tranny goes into limp mode. it will still operate and get you home or to a shop and shouldnt get wrecked on the way but only have 1 or maybe 2 gears if you manually shift it. I had second and third if I manually shifted it when it happend to me but i drive a 97 GMC Surburban... also when it looses power the Speedo n prndl lights loose power. figuring out where n why is another story but shouldn't cost a lot. tell him to buy a OBDII reader, a good one is about $120 and wont just display the codes but also what the codes mean. I keep mine in my center console and plug it in whenever I have a problem. and then if this problem reoccurs he will know exactly what it is. I would hope the problem is fixed now and better be covered under a warranty. I wonder if they rebuilt it the first time only to still have a broken wire which the next shop fixed with a complelty new harness when it could have just been spliced back together. if thats the case those prices are probably accurate, I just hope it is fixed now and covered under a warranty.

LOL I just realized I didnt include the webpage for the 4L60E gm tranny.... I looked through the webpage n i didnt find a troubleshooting guide for the ford trannys...
