Some things you don't want me to bring Jim and that would be a paint brush. Tools sure thing! Me and paint. Messy. Much like a toddler with finger paint.
Take before and after pictures!!

Good Morning!
I will definitely take some before and after pictures. We are not doing anything too fancy. When we bought the house the basement room was just a 28 ft x 23 ft rectangle with washer and dryer in the corner. The walls were finished and painted, but they did not do the ceiling or the floor.
So far I have framed in a laundry/storage room, with a build in display shelves in the one wall and a "unique cupboard/display" to hide support pole.
I have a 1/2 old cedar canoe I am building into a shelf unit to display various artifacts and carving. The one wall we will be finishing with 100+ year old Ottawa River reclaimed pine tongue and groove paneling.
We also plan on installing either a pellet store or a wood store, have not decided which type yet.

Good Morning!
Jim..remember, pellet stoves require electricity to run..so won't keep you warm in a power outage

Good Morning!
You can run a pellet stove for a couple of days on a car battery.
We have a pellet stove and the damn thing is worthless. It had to be WETT certified and required a "cold air" intake. The pipe connects to the back to the stove and then it connects to nothing... So basically its a cold air pipe that freezes the room unless the stove is running. Lots of them wind up for sale on kijiji eventually. I say get a wood stove, one you can cook on. I guess the piping is the big thing. Plus mosquitoes come down the chimney in summer.

Good Morning!
Jim, I love how you say "WE are finishing the basement", when what you really mean is "I am building a man cave". LOL!JimW wrote:QR_BBPOST I will definitely take some before and after pictures. I would recommend wood over pellet every time, personally. More mess, but much less to go wrong with it. Plus, you can warm your snacks and coffee on a woodstove, on a pellet stove, not at all :D
Morning, everyone! First babies of 2016 hatched today, one mixed breed chick and one bsw poult. My gut says they are both girls, but I'm using the masculine terms until they prove otherwise lol. Couple more turkey eggs and a bunch of chicken eggs still cooking. The chickens are mutts, from Shoeless Joe the rooster. I wasn't going to hatch many mutts this year, figuring I have enough layers, but Joe decided to play chicken with a pig, and lost. So I want to make sure I get some more of his daughters. The one that hatched today was Joe over one of the hatchery Giants I bought last year. Looks like he's going to be black cuckoo, but we'll see. The poult is already testing out his baby wings, and eating things he shouldn't like hatching fuzz and first

Good Morning!
Thanks I was thinking if we get a pellet stove we would get a battery backup, but that adds money $$$ to the project. But I do like the idea of a wood stove and less to go wrong. I will have to look into venting requirements as we do not have a chimney.
www, I have already been given "instructions" that it is too be a "family room", lol
