Clearly you need to get lost and end up at the end of my driveway tomorrow. And since you're here anyways, might and we'll come on in and have some chilli
That sounds good Sandy, but the closest I will be down your way is Dover on Wednesday. Since son moved out 3 years ago I don't cook like I used to. My sister makes the best chili.

Hhhmmm... It seems that being a decent cook (or at least trying) and keeping poultry are common interests (coq au vin anyone?): an appreciation of good food starts with good ingredients... and pasty tasteless chicken is not what we want.

Well "Operation Golden Girls" (I moved all my truly senior bird over here to the house) has been a great success with one draw back...huge poops! oh man I thought the dog got in the coop. Must be all the good kitchen scraps they are getting! As a result I have to bath one really yucky bum today, oh lucky me. It really has been great, I started a thread asking about friendliest chicken breeds a few weeks back and Flat Rock Farm I still wants those eggs, but these 9 girls (and even Mr. Whatshisface) have become soooo friendly when the bus stops (ok slows down..we call the driver Super Dave...not a hit we love him) to let my Daughter off the chickens come running across the yard to greet her!
Amazingly too, their presence has quieted my call ducks. I had an issue over here with 3 drakes and only 2 ducks (lots of fighting) well the chickens have basically caused the 5 ducks to "band together" I also totally know where the term "getting goosed" comes from the one Drake (Dale) and the Rooster (Mr. Whatshisface) took about a week and a half to sort things out...Dale would ran across the yard at the rooster head low and come in from behind and jab his bill into the Roosters but! Mr. Whatshisface would jump like 5 ft in the air hilarious.
Anyway...oh did I mention I hate Chilli, well unless it is just a bowl of meat and a piece of garlic toast...

sure does look beautiful out there this morning!!!! full moon was just setting over the trees along the river when i was out and about. we have heard lots and lots of yotes recently, and there were deer everywhere this morning and yesterday morning! they certainly look good after the winter, nice coats and healthy weight....not hurting at all! yay! guys were pushing yotes through our area last weekend, not being too successful, they were saying the yote population seems to be declining in our area (personally i just think the yotes are getting smarter.....lol) but coons are EVERYWHERE! and possums too this year.

separated up my younger girls from the boys last night. things are much quieter now....over the week as i slowly get things cleaned up and moved around i'll be setting up my welbar and rhodebar pens. yay! clawton and his fiance visited last night for some turkey eggs (phew, they're being incubated elsewhere!!!! yay! i have 2 incubators full already!). and little cornish chick #4 made it through the night last night so here's hoping he (definitely a he) will survive and be just fine!

love the weather report this morning. winter storm warning-we don't know if it will be snow, rain or freezing rain or where it will hit or when or if it even will hit. LOL. pretty funny.

beans are rewashed and soaking until later today....tonight they'll cook overnight with the venison and onion and garlic and molasses and maple syrup and some pepper (just regular black pepper). and tonight i'll wake up at 2am and go running (okay, walking slowly) downstairs to turn them off because they'll smell amazing....and then wednesday, during this massive snow storm that will snow us all in forever (sarcasm there) i'll make some shephard's bread to go with it. :-) sounds like a great dinner wednesday night!
hope everyone has a great day!

OMG OMG OMG OOOOOOOOOOO MMMMMMMMMM GGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!

Guess where I'm going next Friday!!! Guess!!! Nope. I'm going to Windsor. Ask me why. ASK ME!
Cause I'm going to see Burton Cummings in concert. He is my favourite!!! I grew up listening to him, he is more often than not the chosen music in the truck or at home while working (if I'm not rapping it out to Eminem or JayZ that is).

Burton Cummings in concert is a bucket list item. There's an ongoing joke in our family. I told Lou that the only way I'd marry him is if he got Burton to play at the wedding. So when I told him we were going he said, oh good now I'll get a chance to talk to him. Haha! I told him I got one word for you. Annulment.

2016 is shaping up to be quite the year. Nova Scotia in August and Burton Cummings. Two items checked off the bucket list. Up until this point in my life, I haven't checked off any. Next year will be kayaking in the Georgia Straight in the hopes to see some Orcas and if I'm extra lucky some Dolphins. I want to visit the Orca research centre etc.

Life is good. Life is good.

Forgot to soak my beans last night. Looks like chilli is tomorrow. Tomorrow is our crazy storm day so excellent day to have chilli and homemade cheese biscuits.

Hope everyone has a great day. Mine is just kick ass already! Woooohooooo!
