Hello other chicken enthusiasts.
I am a fifteen year old homeschooler, and I have had a small flock of silkie chickens for just under a year now. I started out with two silkie chicks, which turned out to be male and female. The hen died after about four months, and I was quick to purchase some hatching eggs so that the rooster wouldn't be lonely for too long.
I hatched a dozen eggs in the incubator, and I ended up with four hens, and eight roosters. Half of my flock died of marek's disease, leaving me with five roosters, and two hens.
We slaughtered the roosters (leaving the original rooster that I started out with), and the two hens are sitting on six eggs each now.
As I am new-ish to chickens, and I am trying to learn from my mistakes, you will probably see me asking questions about vaccinations, and so on. I am doing extensive research online, but any additional help will be greatly appreciated.
