Has anyone made an egg sandwich like in the picnic photo? I was surprised to see nutmeg in it...

Nutmeg is a staple with eggs and rice pudding too.
Must be a UK thing.

I have noticed nutmeg in apple pie...

Are these latches raccoon proof? I noticed on the internet many chicken coops have the following latches. I have always put a lock (with key) on everything coop related because I don't want to underestimate the intelligence of a raccoon but maybe I'm being too cautious?

So I was looking at coop videos and thought ...wonder if there are PTO YouTube videos? They were from 8 years ago. Quite entertaining though. There were 3 baby skunks in a trap. Misty in deep snow. Cat hitting bird on a computer screen. Bantam chanteclers. A dog lying on hay playing with a cow. Happy crowing. Silkies chasing chickadees. Quail babies.

I learned of a secret ingredient in hamburger - nutmeg!

I agree that it's wonderful in rice pud :).

Re: Racoon Proofing. I had a friend (who started me on the chicken journey). She put Hardware Cloth everywhere, and fastened EVERYTHING with carabiners......

One YouTuber suggested using bamboo for perches because they are easier to clean than wood. Does anyone see anything wrong with this? Maybe too slippery?

Another coop had rope wrap around the roosts to prevent bumblefoot.

He also said a light that goes off 2 hours after dark helps the chickens see where their roosts are.

Does anyone give their chicks "chick grit" as well as starter food which I believe already has grit?
