Question Rasperries , polination ?
Re: Rasperries , polination ?
Arggggh! I'd be (bunny) hopping mad!
My friend fenced her whole garden and told me that the rabbits were flinging themselves against the new fence, trying to break it down.....

Yeah me too :))
They started on the cukes, so new fence up, which mainly just inconveniences me,
they trimmed the undetermined tomato plants to fit the hoop covers, I can live with that...
and on a good news front, the bees are back, all over the white clover on the front 1\4 acre lawn, so at least I know they are around. :)

I've never had anything eat my tomato leaves. Not even my Labs

I bought two heirloom tomato plants.

So far, no wildlife has eaten the leaves.
Pruden's purple and Bull's heart pink.

Re: tomatoes
I'm growing Pruden's Purple this year too! I grew it once before from purchased seeds, but it turned out to be red, not pink. It tasted great though, so I decided to try again from the same seeds.
The heart varieties are always tasty. I'm growing Fish Lake Oxheart this year. It apparently originated in Ontario. Orange Strawberry is another heart that is absolutely delicious. It's a bit late to ripen, but worth the wait.
As for labs in the garden, I worry about them helping themselves to the fruit!

So my sons girlfriend is studying to be a vet at Guelph Univ. and she took a course on bees. She said that she noticed fewer bees at her house but she doesn't know why. She's president of the Bee Club. I said you can practice what you learned in books at our house. I said keep them far away. I don't want to be stung. Well she said they have developed a docile bee that doesn't sting. I thought, why did the human race take so long to develop a docile bee. LOL She also said something in concrete is killing the bees. It causes them to get mites. She said if the bees die. Other insects will pollenate but it will be baaaad and Human race will be doomed. Labs seem to eat anything poisonous and not poisonous, wood, rocks, they are hungry all day long. They say dogs are like their masters. Well I'm hungry all day too!

Interestingly we have loads of pollinators now in August. @Farrier1987 another load of you raspberry plants have gone off to someone who loved the flavour - conquer the world next!

Deer were terrified of dogs at our cottage. Maybe some dog urine? We were told (by the Ministry of Natural Resources to put coyote urine on a bridge to keep raccoons away. Dog barking sounds triggered by a motion sensor? Bright motion sensor light?

@lolotsung How did you like your tomatoes? My Pruden's Purple were good, but not as tasty as Orange Strawberry. I had to keep picking everything at the blush stage due to all the rain, then I hurt my wrist and had difficulty keeping up with everything except the cherry toms which are easy to pick. I've pretty much given up on the garden now. Still we had a good innings.
