Thanks, @Jetsko . That is reassuring. I live SE of Ottawa, and I planted mine this past Sunday, so I think they'll be okay.

We are in between Kingston and Ottawa, hardiness zone 5a; DH has planted our garlic.

There is a sweet point so you are planting before it's too cold and your fingers are freezing and not too soon so the garlic doesn't think it's spring ideally it stays dormant until the temperature is just right under the snow, so the lovely green shoots welcome the spring.
Over the last 30 years I have grown garlic, there were couple of long warm very late falls and the garlic sprouted then, but it doesn't affect the growth next year.
All around an amazing thing, garlic, I aways have to remind myself not to throw it in the garden compost, because the antibacterial properties prevents the compost from doing it's thing

Never ate any animals brain . Full squirrel less head if a head shot .22 or legs only if with shotgun body shot .
