I have a philosophy that you will find as many things to do as you want to find. When you've reached your limit you'll stop seeing things that "need" done. Some days I think life would be easier if I didn't have chickens, garden, yard, dog... But I'm fairly certain I would find something to fill in all of that extra time.

OK, so @Happy are you saying it's my fault ?
I have been know to say to myself...ENOUGH ! nothing else needs to be done, BUT turns out that plants are sort of lower level of animal to me, so need to be looked after and frankly anything that needs my help comes before my needs..... oh dear, there is no hope for me now

Big victory this year. Only 20lb seed potatoes instead of 2 sacks! I nearly lost it LOL. Explained I was sick of producing food for lazy neighbours. Thought I explained last year but maybe it will take this time. I don't mind taking stuff to the foodbank though. Our asparagus shocked us because we didn't think it would produce much 2nd year. We've had lots for us even only harvesting a little. End of road neighbour came down saying they loved asparagus and went away when I told them where we got it and I could give them the website name.

Spoke too soon, spruce now firmly plenty in my previously pristine hosta garden...

very windy and heavy rains...Emergency Alert went off when the storm was right above us. How about a bit more warning because all a person would need to do is look up to figure out there was a storm when the alert went off by the look of the feathers (frizzle) on the chickens as they ran for the coop i'm guessing close to 100 kph!

indigo bunting, chipping sparrow, vege garden planted...i'm not sure if this will work but we skimmed the grass off and dug some holes for the veges and put some wood chips on top, normally i turn the whole garden but this garden is just for this year before we move to our new house....my son suggested it and i thought...why not? we can try it out...

Had my first casualties due to predator this weekend. My neighbour texted to say he had bad news, and good news. Bad news was that a fox got a rooster, good was that he took care of the fox… bad news turned out to be that it also got three hens, one of which I managed to find stashed in the bush. No trace of the other 2. I knew it was going to have to happen sooner or later, but I decided my hens were happier being able to run around all day. Don’t know how I feel now…
I also woke up to noises on my deck to find a bear eating a cardboard box. We scared it away, so it went to the shed where we keep the horse grain, and helped itself for a while. Now I have to worry about him getting into my coop…
I’ve been planting some fruit shrubs which I’m sure will just end up feeding the bear when they start make fruit, but maybe I’ll get some? Still getting frost at night, so I haven’t put my tomatoes out, yet.
At least that storm that everyone got wasn’t too bad here. Just a bunch of much needed rain, and no power outages. And my shingles stayed on. Bright side? Haha

That really sucks. I still free ranged even after a stray dog got some of mine few years ago, they just look happier rooting around. Sorry.
