Good Morning
Re: Good Morning
I thought this was happening in March 2020 but not still in Feb 2022. This will make the hospitals busier on top of Covid. Our Family Physician has been working. We've visited a few times during Covid. Skin infection, infected fingernail, ear infection, etc. I got the feeling that she is very worried about getting Covid. Not a big surprise because her and her husband's elderly (in their 80s) parents live with her. She is a very dedicated doctor. She said her brother (in it for the money) is doing $600 Botox injections which takes 15 min while she makes $37 for a 15 min checkup. He works 2 days a week and plays golf for the rest of the week. I jokingly said why don't you do this. She said once you start you can't stop. She went into medicine to make people better not inject toxins into them. She works from 9 am to 9 pm 5 days a week. She said there is a shortage of doctors and even fewer are bilingual (Chinese) so she can not take time off. She's a straight shooter Eg. She said "When are you going back to your prepregnancy weight? It's been 10 years [insert sarcasm] you're going to have health problems." I said, "I LOVE FOOD"

Re: Good Morning
I hope you are feeling better @Happy. Ug i had a friend like that horrible right side pain that would come and gp and turned out his gallbladder had twisted somehow....took them forever to figure it out. Sigh. I just had to see my GP because i am falling down tired. Headaches. Racing heartbeat (and i already have a fib issues) but just so horribly tired.... So she did see me... Sent me right away for blood work and for some reason i am in stage 3 iron deficiency anemia! Wth??! Likely started when i had my back surgery last sept and my body has just been unable to keep up.... Now i understand why i was craving orange juice! Vit c is needed to help absorb iron.... Gah. So onto supplements... Yay another pill. This getting older thing sucks. And with my family history if cancer i have been trying to get into screening for 2 years now. Well turn 50 and theyre now mailing me letters pleading me to get tested.... Like i havent been trying for 2 years??!! I do NOT get our health care system.. At all. Ug.
On a good note my ducks stopped laying again. Phew.

Re: Good Morning
Dr. Katie Gallagher visited today. She checked out all the chickens. What I thought was poo stuck on the cockerel's feet is actually old scabs about 15 mm in diameter from bumblefoot. We soaked the rooster in epson salt and warm water for about 15 minutes and cleaned him up a bit. She peeled the scab off one foot and it was red underneath and tried with the other but it was stuck. She put a pool noodle (cut about 10 mm thick in cross section) under both his feet and wrapped both his feet in bandages. She also noticed a little (3 mm) bit of bumblefoot on one of the pullets. She took a throat swab and a
sample. She listened to all their lungs, looked down all their beaks, felt around their keel, weighed them all (around 2 kg, cockerel was 4 kg) and inspected for lice and mites. I have Tylan and I am supposed to wait for her to call because I might not need it depending on the test results. I also have meloxicam for pain and inflamation for the cockerel's foot. She said you have to be careful not to put the medicine into his lungs
I said I'm not going near his lungs, I'll put it on a treat. I also have probiotics to help with the cockerel's diarrhea which seemed to be ok until we washed him and poked at his foot. Now he has stress diarrhea.
There was a cockerel with watery diarrhea walking around our house crowing for hours drying up. He was looking quite stylish in his new blue foam heels
When I tried to pick him up and bring him outside somehow he managed to jump on my back and he pooped on my jacket
First thing I thought was at least it was not on my head. I just had a shower
She also gave me Vetericyn VF Plus for small cuts on chickens, dogs, and cats. She said Pizza has the beginning of an ear infection so we have to give him ear drops. He was scratching his ears so much they were looking patchy. Otis is scratching less but he managed to scratch till he bled the day before yesterday.
She said Avian Influenza is in Nova Scotia and it will be in Ontario soon with the bird migrations so it is recommended that you keep your birds away from wild birds. She suggested building an enclosure. I was thinking of building a chicken tractor to protect from predators and to keep vermin and wild birds away. So time for a new building project. We were enjoying the warm weather today.

Good morning,
Complete whiteout this morning, from 1C to -6C in about 2 hours, even the dogs were reluctant to go out.
To make myself feel better, serving Roasted duck with mushrooms and basmati rice, with a glass of 2018 Mara Valpocella Ripasso, noticed that the lockdown made food the centre of our lives and highlight of our day :)

Re: Good Morning
I found some pounds too
The other day my track pants felt
snug and I thought. "I better weigh myself." My office pants getting tighter was my Red Flag. There's far too much play in track pants.
I'm going back to the office on Wednesday. My son's close friend got Covid so we are in quarantine. Today is our last day of quarantine. I was not comfortable at all being in an office with a pregnant woman with Omicron around so I worked from home since Christmas. She is off on maternity leave and I'm glad to be going back to work and seeing my "office friends".
