There is a bit of rain happening out this way, this evening. We might wake up to some snow tomorrow morning... or not. We have enough snow right now.

I planted some delphinium, angel trumpet, and columbine seeds last week that I saved from my plants.

We're back to the deep freeze again with wind chills -40 and colder. The sun is out though. There was a blizzard the other day with winds at my place near 100 kph. Zero visibility at times. It blew a lot of snow into my yard, and dugouts, as well as put a 2 foot bank against my back door and across the deck. I could barely get out. A piece of fascia was mostly ripped off my steel building by the wind. It let snow blow about 12 feet into the end of it. My old Ameraucana died during the last really cold spell.

I've had a drought here for the last 5 years or so - both summer and winter. Last fall I had to put in a water cistern because the dugout for the house was almost empty. It wasn't cheap and I am paying to have water hauled for it each month. Now I have snow like this in my back yard and some large banks in the dugouts. I should have put a cistern in sooner!

DH runs upstairs with "don't flush or run water"! Septic backing up. This am dug he out the pipe, tank and unblocked it. Dug further back to find the concrete piece they'd put in for the flow had collapsed. He's off to the store to get pipe and connectors. Going to gt the tank pumped while we're at it. Glad that a couple of years ago we decided to make it "easy" access with just patio stones and a planter on it, no earth so just the snow to shovel off. at least it isn't -30C but cool enough not to smell.

Are you sure ? I remember the rider wall collapsing in our septic tank, I was pretty amazed that the cost was $300, frankly if I was standing inside a septic tank, before I even did any work, I would want more then that...
it was July and pretty sure it didn't smell like the Caribbean ;)

We haven't had drinkable water for about 19 years (that is when we moved in). It's ok for showers etc. but always just fails the water test. We have a cistern for gutter water that we use for toilet water. We are building a new house. I said we should get a drilled well. My hubby still didn't want to pay for a new drilled well. I thought great another 20 years of bringing 20L containers of drinking water into the house and always worrying about running out of water. Well this Spring all the stars alined and we ran out of cistern water and 1 week later we ran out of dug well water. His head exploded and he called up a few local well drillers. We will have potable water, two cysterns because the flow is only 3 gallons, and water softener at the new house. :stars: :wee:
