I am after gardena, so I can adjust the size, but at this point I am happy to make do with what I have.
noticed my "smart" scarecrow can be made in to a waterer, but it would require me to read the instructions and its too hot for that ;)

not quite morning any more....not by a long shot. oh well. Got my second vaccination this morning! yay! So in 10 days or so I will be waiting eagerly for the ontario government to relax the masking rule. I'm so so sick and tired of masks every single day. Had a couple days last week where the AC at work was acting up. nothing like sitting working in jeans, tshirt, shoes, lab coat, gloves, mask AND a faceshield. at 32C. INSIDE. with no breeze. fun. NOT. one bonus was I didn't need to fire up the incubator for the enzyme digests....they need 30C....and well, i just left them on the bench for an hour. Finally on vacation for a couple weeks though. it's nice. i see people at work have already taken over my shifts, so now even if i get called in we'd be over occupancy, oops, sorry! haha

The garden has absolutely exploded in this weather. the 4 inches of rain, and then heat.....the zucchini and summer squash are up to my waist! the potatoes are flowering almost 3 feet up! the wasps are incredible....holy crap wasps. I can root through 4 beehives and even mistakenly thump a frame (didn't drop it somehow....) and not get stung, but drive the lawnmower around a fruit tree and come out with some bastard wasp sting....gah! honestly the sting is bugging me more than the vaccine....haha. (so far anyways).

Really should go and do some weeding. Should have some beans soon, the peas have pods...but not filled yet. Corn is up about 3.5 feet already, i swear i can hear it growin! Already had summer squash and zucchini, cucumbers and tons of lettuce from the garden. the lilies are in full bloom-day lilies are about 4 weeks early this year. and they're all open. i still have a few perennials i started (coneflowers and lilies) that need planting. a little behind on those. the flowers are all waiting on bees LOL. the garden is positively crawling in honeybees and other mason bees. i have about 5 mason bee hives and we now have 4 beehives all splits or swarms from our 1 hive this spring. been crazy. and all are doing amazing. Now, if i could get rid of these darned yellow jackets. argh! I have about 5 wasp traps set up and am emptying them multiple times a week.....the chickens do like them.

My sister had her last chemo round last week. She managed to get through it. still touch and go on whether she'll need a marrow transplant...we should know in a couple of weeks if the values are going the right way. Surgery coming....then we'll see if she needs more chemo. looks like it's a mutation so i guess i get to go and get tested in september. Irritating that the appointments take that long-it's been 6 months since requesting it...sigh. The super irritating thing is i could order primers for 20$ and do the test myself in 72 hours. i just do not understand how it takes so long. oh well. also still no date for surgery. oh well. most days i can get around pretty well still. others, well....whatever. it will happen when it happens. nice to see so many people being vaccinated, and hopefully we can pull out of this virus stuff soon and get back on track!

ducks are laying again. no clue how.....we have 9 youngsters on the ground....3 adult hens, 1 drake. and more eggs. these things are worse than bunnies. And my lab (sally) had a great bunny chase last night. bunny under my truck....showed her and off they went, holy crap that dog can run! the ONLY reason the bunny survived was it got to the corn just ahead of the dog. good girl sally!
alright....off to the garden for a little bit.....weeds are getting bigger by the minute!

Had to move the Faverolles to the garage where it is cooler, they really don't so well in these temps. I have a broody turkey to worry about too! Goodness knows what next!

That was it for the rain for us, nothing yesterday or today, we seem to always be on the edge of things, whilst it's raining downtown Ottawa, sun is shining here, I am spending lots of time being thankful for all the trees we planted :)

First meal of garlic scapes, done on a new outdoor electric grill, DH has given up on BBQ, which makes me the outdoor chef, and propane not being my thing at all, I have gone the "plug in" route. :)

oh my goodness it's hot out. we are 33C without humidex, and pushing 42C with. It's too hot! my horse is standing sweating in her stall. i need to go and close the west door and open the east to block the sun out of the barn. too hot for me for garden stuff, so i decided to clean the house. so far i'm 1/2 way through the kitchen. LOL. it needs it....oh well. I sure hope we get some rain, something, anything to break this heat! at least there's a bit of a breeze today. not like yesterday.

well, got my second astrazeneca shot yesterday and happy to report that besides a headache that started 10 hours after the shot (and is basically gone now) it's been absolutely nothing! nothing like the first shot that laid me out for a day!

@Ontario Chick , still no rain where you are?! It started here about 45 minutes ago, and right now it's coming down in buckets!
@WLLady , I'm glad to hear that you had minimal side effects from your second shot. I was finally able to secure an appointment for my second dose - Moderna. There is still no AZ to be found in our area. My second dose really knocked me back. I basically spent the entire following day sleeping. I experienced all of the possible side effects on the list, and most of them were definitely not mild. The next day I was pretty much back to normal, though, and I'm SO glad to finally be fully vaxxed.

yeah my first AZ knocked me off my feet for an entire day, and the headache didn't leave for a good week. i'm very very glad the second wasn't as bad. i had a friend decided that the second AZ was not for her, because of the side effects from the first shot, so she got moderna and was knocked off her feet again for 2 days. this one has been really no problem.....a bit of problems sleeping last night with the headache, but ibuprofen helps that. and now it's just like a stress headache level so no biggie. We just had horrendous storms go through here. london got hit pretty badly. we had clouds going in 3 directions all at once, and the lightning hit our field twice over by the riverbank.....we could always use more sulphur in the ground i guess....um. shook the house! temp went from 34C to 21 and back to 33 in about 20 minutes. it's not bad outside, somehow it nuked some of the humidity, now it's all in puddles on the ground LOL. guess we don't need to water tonight! but if you are east of london, batten down the hatches!!!!! the wind was so strong with the storms coming in i could just barely get the sliders closed on the barn!!!!

Not sure WTF is up with people. Our hayfield abuts a rental house with a bunch of low lifes in it. Wed evening we go out to check the birds around 9pm and Vian sees a firework being set off in it. Guy grabs box and runs back to house. Last night woken by bangs aound 11:00 and sam low life sets off the rest of his fireworks in our field. Now the hay has been cut but despite recent rains the undercut is still tinder dry. I mean seriously and these people aren't citiots just morons!!!! I've notified the Fire Dept. of the issue and I'll see what they say. Fencing isn't an option because of the haycutting in a small area and expense.
