LOL. That's a good analogy! This morning when I was schlepping all my plant starts out to harden off yet again, I was reminded of that old "Dunkin' Donuts" ad ...

It froze here every night last week still. I have cucumbers and tomatoes started in the house. I have planted several onion sets in my flower beds. I don't need a lot of onions but maybe the gophers will eat them instead of my flowers. Dandelions only started to bloom 2 days ago. Forecast for Sunday is 28 so perennials that are up will likely burn. Some had a bit of frost bite. Work on my modified shed/greenhouse is progressing, but it's not ready.

Got all the tomatoes and peppers in today - phew! Just the eggplants to go. I usually wait a bit to plant them, so as to avoid the dreaded flea beetles, but we shall see. Still have to plant beets, and the cukes/zukes/melons should probably wait another week until things really warm up.

It's 15 degrees and windy today. For the next week we are supposed to have some rain and snow and lows at 0 or colder. It was 30ish for the last 2 days. Leaves and flower buds just started to come out on trees and shrubs. Now flower buds will probably freeze before they open.

I put my water lilies out a while ago. They all had several leaves growing. Then it froze every night for 5 days and most of the leaves died.

Tomatoes and cucumbers are on the kitchen counter.

My first iris to bloom. Dwarf Bearded Iris called Brassy.

Sooo, after protecting my tomato seedlings from cold, yesterday half of them cooked in the sun, seriously, no wonder the farmers complain, if it's not one thing it's another......

I know, right? This spring has been so weird. Last week, I had been moving half of my started plants back and forth between outside and inside for over two 2 weeks because of the cold night temps. It's like a switch was flipped.
Tried to get as many planted out this week after working hours, but oh my! The mosquitoes! Not a fan of slathering on the repellent but had no choice, and even so, they won that battle in under an hour last evening and I had to retreat inside.

Sorry to hear about your baked 'maters OC. I hope they will survive. I have to admit that I burned a few of my larger plants in the sun and they now look variegated with their bleached leaves! I think they will be ok when they've grown some new leaves though.
