Re: Good Morning!
good luck to your DH Jaye! glad he managed to get his first before that too. My sister (in chemo right now) is getting her pfizer today. I'm getting AZ at our local pharmacy in the boonies (west lorne). I think what happened is we're in southwestern health, the same unit as aylmer, and a lot of our vaccine got shunted to aylmer a few weeks ago because that church down there won't stop holding in person services and it's become a hot spot for covid with a positivity rate close to 18 or 20% or something. My mom has cancer, my dad has cancer, and my sister. so i'm in a strange position where i try to help out where i can but i don't want to endanger any of their lives, given that i'm out going to work. and i'm looking at surgery again, so would rather get my vaccines sooner than later. I want to go out doing something fun and stupid, no with some virus in a hospital bed.
woke up yesterday to baby ducks! AND.....one sneaky hen that i had no idea was out in the barn who also appeared with 4 chicks. um. this is the SAME hen that just hatched out 2 chicks not 4 weeks ago! and i have another duck sitting. nope, 2 other ducks sitting. so 7 baby ducklings (i'll put up a photo in a bit-it's trapped on my cellphone). we had to put mom duck and ducklings into the vacant horse stall, and we put mom hen with chicks in there too because the drake was attacking the hen every time she went to get the chicks into the food and water. the hen put up a valiant fight...i actually had to pull her off the drake. so. they're separated now. and if the drake keeps it up he might end up as montreal smoked duck. hopefully he straightens up FAST.
we also split our beehive this weekend-found some queen cells in there, and the hive was just packed with bees, so we did a walk away split. fingers crossed! we also set up a swarm trap, because tis the season apparently! after that we bbq'd lunch and i'm putting relish on my hotdog when a tick fell off me right into the ketchup (at least it was still walking around and hadn't bit yet). not impressed. dug the thing out of my condiments, grabbed and knife, dispatched the tick. why oh why do those things even exist??!
loving the tulips in bloom. first grass cut yesterday (thank you DH) and soon things like the lettuce and broccoli/cauliflower/brussel sprouts will be put in to the garden!

Re: Good Morning!
Ticks are the worst! Don't know why but my body reacts in an extreme way to tick bites. I end up with an itchy giant crater for (if i'm lucky) 3 months! Also blackflies can go back to South America. There are none in France and I enjoyed the blackflyless forest! Chickens are great for insect control though

Re: Good Morning!
I do the same with ticks. i actually still have a scar from the first tick bite-that one gave me lymes and i ended up on doxycycline for almost 2 months! yuck. At least this one was a dog tick, and here they don't have the lymes, it's the deer ticks we need to be paranoid of. but just the idea of something burrowing into my skin like that is enough to give me the heebie jeebies! LOL. At least i don't panic when i see them anymore. I wasn't impressed that it soiled my ketchup though. grrrrrrr.
Have a beautiful full day of gentle soaking rain today. Just perfect hay growing weather! Can't wait to get into the garden after work the next few days. i fear that our mosquito and blackfly-free days are numbered!!!!!

OMG!! Lyme disease
i'm glad you found it and got antibiotics... i only see deer ticks here...over the last 10 years they are becoming more and more common...our dog was bitten by a tick with lyme disease and he had to go through 2 rounds of antibiotics...one day he peed in the house and i brought him straight to the vet...he was sleeping more than usual too but i thought maybe he is maturing (1.5 years old at the time)...it was Feb so i didn't think he had a tick and sure enough there were 2 on him...i thought he only needed tick killer Spring Summer and Fall but he needs it in the winter too...they had a lyme disease vaccine in Canada but no one wanted it so they stopped making it..i told my doctor i want to be first in line if the vaccine comes back...yes I'm enjoying the bug free outdoors while it last!

Re: Good Morning!
good morning all. the morning after the AZ vaccination! I can with 100% certainty say i am making antibodies! And i failed to get the number of the truck that ran me over exactly 12 hours after the shot LOL. Both me and hubby are in the same boat today. so we're both just having a quiet day. Just super glad to have at least 1 dose in me! Think i'll alternate between maybe planting stuff or organizing the greenhouse and sleeping. This one definitely wiped me out, but not the worst vaccine i've ever had-rabies was worse than this one. And i'm 100% sure it's still nicer than getting covid 19.
My third duck decided to go down for the count last night on eggs. The black duck i think is sitting on a bunch of duds....oh well. i don't dare try to take them away because she's got deadly aim. LOL.
May the fourth be with everyone today!

Re: Good Morning!
Today 7 am Radio was up New actually made me laugh out loud.....
When last week I was an "Entitled Baby Boomer" by deciding on Vaccine of MY choice,
apparently today I am indeed allowed to make my own decisions.......
Drizzly cold few days in the garden, looks like the Mesclun survived the snow, Black seed lettuce looks less then happy and Swiss chard is up, I wouldn't have believed that, but the frozen Swiss chard from last year brought up thru the winter without needing to bu spinach even once.

Re: Good Morning!
The thing is you are entitled to mke an "informed decision". This means, if you wish, getting the vaccine you are most at ease with for YOUR circumstances both medical and personal. IMO only there is too much social pressure and "the scientists know best". I admit most people (not including folks on here) aren't competant to make their own decision. This also includes an exemption for people who have medical reasons for declining the vaccine.
