Re: Good Morning!
Wood stove on last night and again today. Just enough to drive the chill out. Didn’t get a lot of rain, fingers crossed for more. We’ve opened up all the roof pipes that open into the cisterns. Normally wait till end of April, but terrified this going to be a dry hot year.

Re: Good Morning!
Good morning! I haven't been here in awhile.... been busy, and not busy. Kinda just feel blah....
Gary broke his femur Feb. 28th..... and holy hell... the work after he got home for me!! Now, don't get me wrong.... I feel for the guy (I would also like to punch him in the face for all this also), and I am GLAD I am not him.... but I was NOT prepared for the amount of work it is, to care for someone who cannot lift his leg, wears a catheter (had it in and out 3 times.... its IN for months and months... until 'elective' surgery of paring the prostrate down) until they can book him for it.... they are booking into October, and NO surgery date for him yet. Now months of catheter care appointments, upon everything else. (Physio app. and whatever else will come up). Hes been having 'pee' problems even BEFORE all this, and has been brought up with the Dr.... but has been told 'old age'. I told him from the very first time they inserted it (and it was difficult), that the leg will be the very least of him problems.
So, theres the femur.. in splinters more or less.
And there is what he has had done.
The first two weeks were pretty difficult... he had long incisions... staples... and weeping mess, had to change bandages twice a day. He couldn't get in or out of the hospital bed the Lions Club delivered, as well as other things to make life a little easier, but now he can. Hes been doing his excercises and coming well moving around, but still can't lift his leg.. or walk very well, or put much weight on it. Hoping that changes soon.
So.... been kind of tied to the house, doing more washing... he can only wear two pj pants he has.... and non tight socks.... and of course, I did not have single bed sheets, daughter in law Heather provided them.... making his meals (he used to cut up stuff for his daily salad lunch), dole out his meds..... he had to needle himself for 7 days after he got home with blood thinner.... hes off much of those now....carrying stuff to him/taking away, although NOW he finally is using the walker with wheels I took BACK to Melissa (her m-i-l's.. deceased mothers),... she brought it back, and it has a seat with which he CAN put items on, like a not full cup of coffee... dish etc. Feeding the dog, and medicating her is on me.... getting his newspaper at the road, secretary for appointments and such, because he..... just can't......floor heat and furnace/fireplace.. propane... slightly up... because hes a big baby, and can't wear a sweat shirt over his long underwear shirt.... and listen to him swear and tell me hes not going to last as long as its going to take for this surgery booking... all summer with the catheter, etc....
I just CANNOT help myself at times, when he tells me hes going to have the lions take back the bed.. someone needs it more than me.....and other such things, when I tell him (even tho theres NO looking back, it happened, and thats that plain and simple.... get over it FFS... I tell myself), but hes fallen MORE times on the ice, then this last time... and he HAS ice grippers for his boots... and OMG, wouldn't it have been nice for EVERYONE, if he was actually smart enough to have used them?????? (and being smug each time he DID fall going out for the paper at 5am... and not even have spilt his coffee he would tell me...... which I could see upon coming back to the house, after my bus run, when it WAS light out, and see coffee spillage on the ground....)
Oh well. I will still continue to lose my mind over all this.... him... and heading to Paisley and Southampton, where mom is still in hospital...and going downhill more each time I see her. My sister Roxanne and I go up every other week... to take her clean clothes (my dad washes), and I cut her hair last Saturday, and shaved her few facial hairs, lol. She knows enough she wants those removed. The drive tho..... 3 hours to Southampton... and back. We have also been cleaning out their house, its jam packed FULL of $1 store items, shes hoarded, and omg, the stuff. Dumpster bin fulls, and I'm not kidding. Fake flowers, fake flower pots, omg.... and stuff, and GAWD...... I just answered my cell phone... unknown... from the GD legal department, so guess whose going to be calling my phone repeatedly now??????????????. Trouble is... some of these Dr. or hospital numbers are private... or unknown. I don't want to miss a prostrate surgery cancellation!
I hate some people. Could easily take 'care' of some of them.
Well... I think I'm at the end of my pity party.... I can't believe I have been walking around thinking my life was HELL before all this.... until THIS. So now, I'm thinking it can, and will get worse... with my parents, hopefully NOT with Gary.... Hopefully we all can stay clear of this virus (Gary is going with Carrie.. his daughter to get the pfizer shot tomorrow morning...... I'm on the fence about it all.... and I think I probably should go do something.
A friend picked Gary up, and they went train watching. They are both rail fans. So, I've a bit of reprieve now.
Kathy and Martin brought me some ducks... and two cartons of duck eggs to eat... eggs they WERE Sitting on.... I was thinking it would be awhile before they started laying.... but they only took a day, and now I have TONS! The ones they came with.. I made a nice nest, and put them in the corner with straw, and they covered them up, and started laying in two other spots.
It was nice to see the both of them, its been awhile, lol.
I also have 4 hens now broody, Geezus.... and getting over 24 eggs a day. It would be nice, if I could take those hens, put them in the other side of the barn, lock them in there, and give them all eggs!!. But that would likely screw them up, piss them off... and they wouldn't set.
Ok... I'm going to do some laundry (peak hours of course), because someones off the bed, and has his 'day clothes' off.
Have a great week everyone!

Re: Good Morning!
Personally I’d smuggle Gary across the border & let Doc Pol put on one of those homemade casts he puts on sheep . Work well one trip only . Sounds like you have now inherited what’s called the “sandwich “ generation title which puts you sandwiched between your folks & your personal family & yes it’s a tough row to hoe . But like gas it to shall pass but not especially the way you’d like. Take care cause we care .

Re: Good Morning!
I loved the one where Dr Pol strapped down a turkey with duct tape and repaired a horrible wound on its breast!

Re: Good Morning!
You guys locked the Covid thread, so I'll have to announce here that I'm booked for my Covid shot on April 1!!!!
Too bad that I'll have to drive in a snowstorm to get it though.

Re: Good Morning!
I took my mom yesterday for her shot. We drove the 1/2 hour to Orillia in the pouring rain with neither of us actually thinking we might have to stand outside. I've no clue where our brains were. As we arrived at the sports complex about 30 minutes early we saw the line-up of seniors. My blood was boiling
We made a quick stop at Mark's and grabbed an umbrella. I parked up close and left mom in the car so I could hold her place in line. Thankfully it didn't take long and the rain broke by the time I needed to usher her inside. Very well organized once inside the front door. She received the Pfizer shot. Said her arm was a bit sore last night and she was sleepy but nothing further.
