Re: Good Morning!
my daffodils and tulips are coming up! they're about 2 inches tall right now. i used to have crocus but i think they were all eaten (ducks....). almost time to get the rake out and rake up the dead stuff. need to do the dormant spray now that we're back to seasonal temps. it was 20C yesterday. felt so bizarre. the wind was crazy, but we didn't get the big storms like east of london did. need to get the paddock raked up too. less
with just one pony, but man, that pony produces well lol.

Re: Good Morning!
What's everyone's opinion on the AstraZeneca vaccine? I am asking because I am fortunate enough to be eligible for the Covid-19 Pharmacy Vaccine Pilot and Kingston is one of the areas where this is rolling out. I have an appointment for my first shot on Sunday afternoon and it will be a nice four hour Sunday drive. I personally think that any protection against Covid-19 is worth a shot (Pun intended - lol). I've been reading up on whatever I can find on it, and I know that it's not especially high in the ratings for efficacy, but I don't think I want to be a vaccine snob and I think I should take advantage of the vaccine that is being offered. I would have to wait until probably at least end of May/June for my turn at any of the other vaccines (also, I'm living with someone who is in the high-risk category).

Re: Good Morning!
If it were me I would take it. The problems in Europe with blood clots aren't statistically significant. Flu vaccine you're lucky to get 50% efficacy. Efficacy stats aren't as B & W as they seem anyway.

Re: Good Morning!
I registered for it too now I’m in Kingston. Haven’t got an appointment yet but when I do, I’ll gladly take it despite the lower efficacy. As @Killerbunny mentioned the blood clot issue is similar to in the regular population range.

Waiting for WLLady. I bet she'll recommend the J&J one, but that will mean waiting until September!

Re: Good Morning!
Actually novavax is the one i am waiting for Its a traditional vaccine. It doesnt highjack your cells to make the protein because it is the spike protein. Its 98% effective apparently with 0 cases needing hopitalization and 0 cases of severe covid infections. It also appears to work on the new variants. And it will be manufactured in montreal when given the green light by health canada. It is in the approval stage currently. Second choice is jannsen (johnson and johnson). Pfizer moderna and astra zeneca are not even on my list because of the nanoparticle's biochemical properties (pfizer and moderna) and astra zeneca is based on a virus that some of us may already have some immunity to reducing its effectiveness in a small percentage of people. Given my medical history i am likely in that .01% of the population lol.
Beautiful day today. Going to get some manure spread and dog
cleaned up and start on cleaning out the barn i think. The idiot squad is outside... Might see if the duck door opens too and let them out. Apparently need hay for the pony too.... Amazing how much longer a bale lasts with just one 2000 pound horse and not 2. Time also to clean out some dead stuff from gardens and dormant spray the trees if we get to 4c today. Loving the weather
