hydro one

Our last hydro bill was around $120. When we have to run water heaters for the stock, the hydro might hit 160, which is the most I think we ever paid. Do you heat the house with electric? Can't believe ur bill! We heat with wood, don't own a clothes dryer or a dish washer; but we do have a large freezer which is probably the largest appliance we have. Kids can really bounce the water heater up with showers. When our girls were home, hydro was way more reasonable, thank goodness. Between their showers and laundry they drove us nuts w hydro, as it was, we were the evil parents when it came to showers etc. Well worth the $ to get your situation checked by a reliable electrician.

Its crazy I agree. I call in my reading every month because they did that to us a couple years ago sending in a $1200 bill then saying sorry I guess we under estimated your usage. Tell them you cannot pay it even if you could and they will divide it up that s what they did for us. We have equal billing now so it is evened out but our bill is usually about $330 a month and there is just the two of us. I hate opening the bill because most of the bill is delivery fees and taxes. Call in your own readings every month is about the only advice I can give. I feel your pain because it infuriates me as well.

I agree with all of you, but have to admit, I live in paradise/dreamland (=Canada)
Germany's rates:
1kWh in 2014 = EUR 0.29 = CAD 0.45
1 liter regular gasoline (last few days) = EUR 1.23 = CAD 1.92 (I just filled for 69.9 tonight  )
My parent's lot the house is on (150x300 yards) ~EUR 1Million = CAD 1.56Million (and no, it's in a small town with 15k people and 1 big employer, not a hot market). I guess that's why @baronrenfrew calles himself "Baron". Still holds true today .... Every time they come they shake their head at our 100 acres for much less....

Just my happy thought for Friday evening....

And, yes, reading what you guys pay monthly, I decided to look into my hydro bill, too. Let's see if I can squeeze a few more bucks out of it without doing all kinds of crazy things and spending the next 3 years savings on something that might return it, might not.
Oh, I know, there are 16!!! water heaters plugged in at the barn tonight. I just do the "ross" and flip the switch. :wee:

Now THAT will be a Valentines day to remember!!! :xfingers:

LOL when you see how much things are abroad it sure changes ones perspective eh. is that the price of gas in London? heck it would be worth the trip there. Sarnia is still above 82 and they make the friggin gas!!! whats minimum wage in Germany? my last name is German.

stay away from the switch Martin LOL.
