Yep, if i name them they stay HA HA.

Well, i now have a duck explosion. literally. 20 babies at 2 weeks old. 4 4 month olds. 1 3 month old. 9 1 month olds. and at least 11 day olds. all muscovies. so if anyone has ever wanted muscovies i will discount large orders LOL

Was supposed to have today off, working tomorrow, but that seems to have developed into a work from home day today and then also working tomorrow. So i will grab another day in holidays somewhere down the line.
We finally have gotten a few little rains in between the big rains the last 2 weeks. The corn is FINALLY growing and starting to tassle. we were so close to losing the crop...some is stunted, but looks like it will recover with time.

Went outside last night and was severely disappointed with the neowise comet. It was infinitely brighter and easier to see and photograph last week! we could still see it with the binoculars, but the show was much better a few days ago. glad i got to see it, because i'm pretty sure i do not want to be around to see it the next time it's around! haha i sure hope i'm not here in 6000 years. because that would be the ultimate stuck in a rut ever.....

was hoping to get to the feed store today, and get the barn cleaned out. set up a pile of rat traps....and also did end up putting poison down....sigh. hate doing that. keeping an eye on the cats but the poison was well out of reach, and hopefully the rats will be too when they die. will need to do a big clean out and sweeping from all the rat poop, thankfully we have masks haha. There had to be 20 or so making nests in my shavings. argh. i hate that. had to throw out 3 bags of tunnelled shavings because of the rat poop in them. used them as mulch around the grapevines....but still. YUCK. and the stink too. hate it. So i will likely take the afternoon and clean out the barn. Had to turn the one horse stall into a duck brooding facility lol. There's 4 moms each with their own ducklings in there. All getting along and doing great!

Good morning, bl..dy hot here, hang up some garlic to cure, but frankly it was so dry it probably cured in the ground.
too hot to do anything, so did some online groceries and will spend the rest of the day lying in the shade.
really hoping for some rain, but nothing on the weather radar and even if there is, it seems to bypass us.

hello everyone!
Looks like rain coming....hotter than hades here today. holy. 33C at 8am?! i sure hope this breaks soon. They promise a cold front today....
my cherry tree has some kind of fungal something and is dropping leaves again this year. it did this the last 4 years, and everything i have tried hasn't worked, except the "cut it down and plant something else" advice. both the cherry trees are doing it, and neither have ever had fruit because of late frosts, so maybe it's time to try a different tree....sigh.

Had the trail cam up for a few days now and haven't caught any foxes or coons on camera. YAY! And i finally lost it and put poison out for the rats. HOLY crap. 3 rats the morning after. another 2 rats the next day. then 12 rats the next day. then another 2 rats. FINALLY this morning there is no sign (aka new rat poop) of rats in the frequented spots....my goodness. I guess if i see one that means there's 20! or 30! they're all field rats....fingers crossed that we made a huge dent in the population. i found out where they get in and out (through the conduit that the power runs through) and stuffed that full of a big heavy log pulling chain (move that you buggers....) so they at least can't just scoot down there while i'm chasing them with the rake. ug. stinky gross creatures. So i have some cleaning to do, think i'll just sacrifice a shop vac filter and shop vac everything out....i dug out 2 nests that i found (yes, wearing a mask and it was still disgusting!) and burnt those.....just gross. and the stink...sigh.

ducks are incredible. 35 ducklings. holy crap. that's JUST the 1-2 week olds. not counting all the others. i'm almost at the point of putting out a kijiji ad (although i really do not have time to deal with the insanity that ensues).

Corn is tassling. my sweet corn in the garden (pampered and watered) will be ready later this week i think. can't wait! the summer is FINALLY turning into fall when there's sweet corn!

Good morning, we are under severe Thunderstorm watch, and at first I thought my weather radar is broken, but then I found a small speck of cloud near belleville, so not sure where the thunder storm is hiding.

@WLLady you may find the Kijiji route easier then usual, poultry has been selling like hot cakes, so it may be short and sweet :)

Very true - it may be short and sweet ... but the crazies are still out there in Kijiji Land.

True, the Kijiji crazies are always going to be with us, but sale that happens fast and ad that is taken down immediately, reduces the numbers ;)

Looks like we had a sprinkle of rain last night, enough to put the shine back on the potatoes and squash. If I never see another crappy humid day like yesterday again, it will be too soon.

Good morning everyone.
Some rain here would be most welcome.
Yesterday it rained a bit in the surrounding area but not here. The only big chore I managed to do yesterday was rake out the meat chicken pen in the barn. Opening all the doors let a nice cool breeze through the length of the barn. Getting harder to function with this humidity as my age increases!
