New Year's resolutions
New Years resolutions......
Do you make any?
If yes what kind?
and more importantly do you actually stick to them?
The best New Years resolution you made and actually stuck to?

Re: New Year's resolutions
I don’t usually make New Year resolutions, but I have one for this year. After my diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer, I signed up for a clinical study about the effect of exercise on cancer recurrence. I just had my fitness review and have improved in all the measured areas except upper body strength. So my resolution for 2020 is to find something I can do to improve my upper body strength that isn’t lifting weights in a gym, which I am unlikely to learn to love. Loving it enough to do regularly without fighting a lack of a willpower is key.
Would welcome suggestions!

Re: New Year's resolutions
Serious swimming should help. Drills with pull strokes etc. and a coach that won't injure you.

Re: New Year's resolutions
I usually don't make New Year's resolutions most years. I have made a few in the past about losing weight/getting healthier. Unfortunately I have not been successful for the long term.
This year I am making 3 resolutions...
1. Eat Healthier, with my double bypass surgery in 3 weeks, I don't have much choice or I might not make it to 2021. lol
2. Less Birds - cutting down on my number of birds for 2020, already started.
3. More Fishing!!! I would be doing any fishing for a couple months after surgery, but will make up for it the rest of the year.

Re: New Year's resolutions
I always go 'dry' for the month of January. I don't know who it's harder on
I already eat well and my job is exercising
so all the standard stuff is off the list. I'm goimg to try and keep my hatching addiction in check. Although, I have started collecting eggs ( must be close to March by now
)
Mostly, I can't believe it's 2020
Who knew we would make it to the year 2020......
Hope everyone has a great start to the year.

Re: New Year's resolutions
I think the most important thing with health type resolutions especially for those with pre-existing conditions is to get a trainer or coach that understands you and your body. That way you run less risk of getting injured or walking away from a programme. I know when we changed swim coaches it was like night and day and the improvements were amazing (thank you Jane, Princess of Pain). That said it takes time.

I couldn't agree more! It's so important to find a trainer that pushes without hurting their clients. I have picked up many a client with that very compliant. It takes time to see improvement. Folks just don't want to wait.Killerbunny wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 7:17 amI think the most important thing with health type resolutions especially for those with pre-existing conditions is to get a trainer or coach that understands you and your body. Re: New Year's resolutions
my new years resolutions.....hm...i usually do not make any because...well its not hard to stick with most but some are too ambitious. like trying to be patient with bitchy coworkers...or working on my infinite patience haha
this year is trying to get my back in shape to be as pain free as possible.
and eat less.
and move more
and let go of stress haha
we shall see how that goes
