Re: Good Morning!
morning all! momma turkey is up with the 2 poults....(sorry no pics yet), and the ducks are super cute...a little bit wobbly, but doing okay.
all are eating and drinking and the one greyish one comes running over when i put my hand into the brooder and sits in my hand LOL. i'm hoping there's at least 1 girl, but i have no clue about muscovies, so i'll have to wait and see!

Ok, hatching experiment officially failed. Rats, Yes, KB, Miranda sat like a trooper, the whole three weeks plus, last summer but the eggs were duds. This time, she just quit and walked away. There are holes in the ground near the little coop, so I am wondering if the inhabitant (snake?) scared her.
Is anybody coming to Odessa this weekend? I will stop in for a look anyway. A friend of mine is looking for a couple of ready-to-lay pullets, and it’s too late to order from Frey’s, so PM me in case you have a couple to sell and will be there.

@SusanH Lois's has ready to lays, not from Frey's, they are 12.00 per bird and they are great birds. She gets them every 2 week. Just go in and order and she'll call you. You get to pick your bird from the lot.

Re: Good Morning!
I'm going to leave the Photo Contest open for another week until Sunday 9th June or until I get 10 entries if before that. I only have 2 so far so hopefully we'll have some good weather.

Beltsville Small White turkeys.
Mutt chickens for eggs
RIP Stephen the BSW Tom and my coffee companion.
RIP Lucky the Very Brave Splash Wyandotte rooster.
RIP little Muppet the rescue cat.

Re: Good Morning!
Been staring at my 25 chicks all morning, convincing myself that they are all roosters...that can’t be, right? Haha
I did get some sexed chicks, so at least a few of them have to be hens, right?
Admittedly, I have no experience telling them apart, and they are only 5 weeks old...
Now I’m out to try to put up some fencing-another thing I’m not having much luck with at the moment!

Re: Good Morning!
:))
I have had mornings like that.
still remember my first hatch, 11 pullets and one rooster, but for at least 8 weeks I was completely convinced that it's 11 roosters and one pullet.

Re: Good Morning!
Me again, after yesterday I am starting to think that I live in a "tornado valley"
and maybe will stop calling DH to come and look at the great clouds?
Had a good chuckle at the expense of people being upset about not getting tornado warning on their cell phones !!!!!
Perhaps lifting eyes away from cell phone and looking at the sky might do the trick ????
The broody is still sitting on the 3 chicks, they are 1 week old today, I am thinking I will defer to her as far as weather goes, obviously she knows what she is about.
Not putting anything in the veg garden until it warms up, maybe growing cucumbers in the garden shed this year, getting a bit tired of taking them out and putting them back in again.
Have a dry one!

That tornado was a bit close for you wasn't it OC?
I think you and I must be the only ones waiting to plant veggies! I refuse to put my cosseted tomato seedlings in the ground when temps are going to drop to the low 40's overnight AND there will be rain, rain, rain!
Had a chicken escape from the coop this morning whilst I was cleaning
boards with the door slightly open. Both dogs were standing right there. Silly bird. The dogs didn't even notice at first, and she skipped off behind the coop/run. I chased her all the way round and Abbey came the other way and spooked her so that I was able to catch her and toss her into the open run.

Re: Good Morning!
Sorry to have missed everyone at Odessa yesterday. I showed up at 1:15 to find everyone packing up and no turkeys or Wyandottes, so I knew KB was gone, and the remains silkies we’re from Corinne, so I knew Kbr42 was gone, too. No bantam New Hampshires, no Kyle. Hope it was good for those who were there!
