I will be there, just looking around, no buying or selling.
I will have my PTO hat on.

First time in a long time I didn't go ... too much temptation for me, when we're not ready or able to take on anything new. :-(

Well I went to the auction stayed longer than usual. Most birds seemed to be in good shape. A chantecler trio with one hens constantly shaking her head, one eye cloudy and other other eye shut. Plus a turkey with swollen sinuses.
The worst thing was someone was selling Ayam cemani, the all black chickens, the birds for sale were definitely birds that should have been culled due to numerous flaws. Someone bought a pair for $130, which is cheap if they were not terrible birds. A lone ayam cemani rooster old for $30, I was hopig he would sell for $5 or $10 and I would have bought him to cull, so nobody every breeds him.
Plus I think the person that bought the terrible ayam cemani pair for $130 also bought the black turkey with swollen sinuses
Here is ayam cemani rooster sold at the auction. I hate people trying to make a fast buck off of not well educated buyers.
Here is one of my "decent" ayam cemani
So the big question???.... What did I buy at the auction. Normally I do not buy anything at auctions do to biosecurity reasons. But today I could not resist and gave into temptation!!
I bought something different but kept with my Black & Blue theme. So here is a photo of my big purchase at the auction....
Play safe everyone.

Oh Jim that looks good!
I really wonder about people taking sick birds to Auctions. I'd hate to see this one get a bad rep like some others. DO the organisers check birds on entry?
One of the reasons I never take any turkeys to Auctions is I'd be too scared to bring them home if they don't sell. Not sure how folks would feel about culling in the parking lot.

Mmmmmm that pie looks good!
Unfortunately there are people who have no idea if their birds are sick or not and other people who hear about an unusual breed and will pay anything for even substandard birds as they did not research what they are buying.
Auctions are fun to go to but you really have to be prepared to isolate and medicate if you buy anything.
