Bright crisp morning here. Sun is getting higher and stronger. I like this kind of winter day. I think Peachy might be starting to want a family, on the nest for long stretches and quirring at me. Not serious yet, but when she is I will give her eggs. New brood later march would be just right.

I requested no beak trimming, they said take it or leave it. Also have never had hatchery raised that didn't pick at each other, mostly from being raised so close together is my guess. Its ok, but I much prefer my broodies and letting them run, but not everyone has that option.

And to all new parents, especially WLL and Martin. Getting any sleep?

Good morning, Bright, Sunny and Pretty out here, much more then can be said about our government.
Endlessly impressed by our former attorney general.
Have a safe one!

last night i'm happy to report we actually slept a full 6 hours! up only once with puppy who dutifully barked at 130 that "i need out NOW" and we did. man it was cold at 130am in my PJs, hubby's muck boots (i found those first in the dark) and my big work jacket lol. only a 30 minute tantrum about being alone in the living room when we went to bed. but i do think she's fitting in quite well. sit is going well, stay will need a while longer LOL. down is also coming along, but we're starting small with sit for now. she knows that she's not allowed in the kitchen (and most of the time "out" gets her most of the way out of the kitchen). horse foot trimmings are the BEST, and i swear she's 2 inches taller this morning. she fetches (most of the time) and i think skeet is 2 years younger now. he's definitely helping to parent LOL.

beautiful morning, everything all foggy and covered in frost and bright sun coming out! it's gorgeous. cold but gorgeous!
freys beak trimming isn't horrible....
@Killerbunny i will have blue-green already laying available in a month or two...they're 2 years old next month...just a thought....depending on where they are. they are blue-green though, not blue blue, they're from an easter egger project to improve my ameraucanas, so some have feathered legs but otherwise all look wheaten ameraucana. so they are technically easter eggers. but if they aren't picky....

The other thing is that European & British regs don't require that eggs be washed. They now it's better for storage not to .

Lots of snow this morning.......but was able to put the little ones out in the coop. Looks like I may not have to bring them in again. Only Gomer in the house with my oldest silkie.

just a chick and poult fix for sunday morning. a bunch of mixed chicks with some welsummers, rhodebars and welbars mixed in. these are simply for girls for spring sales. and testing the incubator. and giving my poults some company. lol
any guesses to how many turkeys??

still battling my cold from hell. sigh. and today i must complete my mealworm housing set up as i now have about 100 adult beetles 300 pupae and more every day! thought the bins would smell but it all just smells like bran. i can handle that. lol

The mealworm bins only start to smell after frass and shed skins start to accumulate. Which reminds me - it's past time for me to take my bins outside long enough to blow off all the skins, since it's a less cold day with no wind. :-)
