Good Morning!
Yay Sandy!!!!! Knew you could do it!!!! Hunters is even easier. You need a turkey seminar course. The hunter course will teach you more about licencing system. You WILL be confused with the deer system. I am happy to walk you through it.
They have been threatening to change deer for a few years now-opening up a shotgun season down in sw ont where rifles are not allowed (too populated with rifles having too far a dangerous range). It was supposed to come through 3 years ago. Then 2 then last year...now they are saying next year....we shall see.
Congrats on getting through it! My first day of gun course my instructor thought i was going to shake the gun apart i was terrified. Lol. Another story for another time. The room was silent except for the rattling of my shotgun lol. Everyone was staring at me. Funny now....
Today is also
day for me too. And the electronics in our gun safe just pooched out lol. Hubby is checking that out. He wants to bunny hunt. Lol.
Tapping is done in my area. I have to go do my 5 trees.....just for me this year. ☺
I have a vintage 1870s double barrel shotgun from an estate. Now that is a display gun. Will never be shot again. Pulled the firing pins so it can be legally displayed. Truly a work of handcrafted art. There are guns from recently -like 5 years ago-that cant handle steel...just something to be aware of. My 12g cannot shoot steel through full choke..but can through modified. So if you want to waterfowl hunt just check your guns spec book first. Now you will never run out of ideas for christmas or birthday presents lol.

Good Morning!
Thanks Kathy & Ross!!
Now the turkey is pay for DVD video and write test - test is free. Have to bring receipt for purchase of DVD when writing test.
Yes, I think they did passed no rifle for deer ... Coming into effect later this year? Just sounded so weird .. No rifle for deer ??? Didn't want to say that on the forum because it sounds so crazy didn't think anyone would believe me LOL. But yes.. That's what's going down.
I thought I was going to vomit or pass out, maybe even both, when I was standing in front of the weapons ... And took a few extra minutes to hold the semi automatic when I got to it ... Just because of the stigma placed on that word. Semi-automatic. A guy from Tennessee with his huge southern draw saw me having an internal panic attack and showed me step by step and got me going on all the different shot guns and rifles. He took me one by one. Sooooo thankful for his time.
Kathy - Before I take the hunters I think I will take you up on your offer to share what you know. Thank you. It was very overwhelming and the more prepared the better for me.

Good Morning!
Well done Sandy! The trouble with guns... A lot of people "think" they know what they're doing. Had a 16 yr old cousin here a few years ago, took him to the back 40 to teach him to shoot. I had a .22 and first q he asks "how many bullets does it shoot at a time?" What? Does not compute for me... Oh... All he's ever done is play video games! "It shoots one... Don't miss" so I g ave him a pellet gun for the day so he could learn to shoot.
I did the courses... All I wanted was a TC Contender single shot pistol with choice of numerous barrels including .410 shotgun. I had romantic dreams of snowshoeing with grouse exploding from the snow. Me with a "quick draw" and a grouse bagged. I gave up hunting due to lack of local grouse (and lack of success hunting) so I've raised pheasants and quail. Plus no time to be a regular at a pistol club so $400 per year wasted. Plus the hassle to get a "pistol range" approved on my property. So I use a long gun for critters. Anyone got a good recipe for coyote?

Good Morning!
Weasel trapping. Try tieing the bait to the trap pedal with a few wraps of cotton string so they have to pull at it. or a small piece of rag soaked in blood tied works too. Also, use minimum amount of bait so they cant just nibble at it there. Weasels love blood, try raw liver as bait.

Good Morning!
CONGRATS SANDY! now you can go onto the rcmp website and check the status of your application. Mine was approved in 118 days, i called in and got my pal number and purchased my first shotgun online a few mins later. yeeeehaaaaa! pal card came in the mail a few dats later. a Mossberg 535 it will shoot all 12 gauge shell sizes up to 3 1/2" but to be honest I only ever shot one. the kick was crazy and kinda scared me LOL. I shoot 3" for everything... get a Mossberg 500 with 3 different barrels for around $550 and you'll be all set! Mossberg in my opinion makes the best pump shotguns in the world. I also have a 20 gauge that was once Kathys and then Ross' s.... got beautiful pheasant engravings... how old is this gun? do you guys know? first shot i took with it nailed a dove! sweet deal I just wish I could repeat that LOL doves are squirrel and dip and dive.
Allen had a bday party here yesterday with his friends from school and had a great time! I drew a pin the tailight on the monster truck... did a great job I think hahhaa took me like 2 hours to color it!

Good Morning!
sheesh! Free range poultry start a fued with a neighbour that ends in the ridiculous.
I looked this article up to add to my comments to Sandy. The second version mentions the chickens. http://www.nationalpost.com/m/wp/blog.h ... un-control

What bothers me is how police and prosecutors treat someone "accused" of a crime with a gun even where they may be defending themselves or family or property using a gun. You may win your defense in court only after spending $50,000 or so.

Good Morning!
Must be pretty annoying, reminds me years ago we had a "have a heart" trap set up for a raccoon, DH put in a bait every night, carrying it in a napkin, and leaving it in the trap.Rhonda wrote:QR_BBPOST Yes Ross we have two or three of the tunnel traps. Hubby has even been watching U tube videos how to bait and set them up. Our ninja weasel goes in steps over the trap for the meat at the back. and leaves again with out triggering it. Starting baiting trap as well as leaving meat at the back. One he triggers and eats the bait. one he just takes the meat at the back. Hubby even left the pieces of beaver on a piece of tin foil at the back. Tin foil was pulled out, trap not triggered. Tested the traps and they are very sensitive and snapping when we touch it. it's actually getting kind of funny to watch poor hubby's reaction every morning..
At the end of the week, there was no Raccoon, no bait, but 7 nicely folded napkins, and yes, DH was taking it personally, but the kids thought it was hilarious.
Eventually neighbor with a gun, took care of the problem.
Hope you get the beastie before it procreates.
