Same with my little bantams. First time seeing snow and you'd swear it was hot lava burning their feet! They rushed the door before they realized there was something foreign on the ground and then they tried flying up onto me to get out of it.

Good evening... I hate snow. All I have to say.

Actually I am thinking of going to the Royal Winter Fair this year. Is the poultry show good?

Weeellll. It was OK a few years ago but nothing like the OPB Show. I went with Joan and Alana and it was nice. Also a day when there was Show Jumping.

Do you still have your cast thingy on? That would be nasty in snow.

It has always been an odd one, almost a mix of small country Fair with some good stuff thrown in.
I haven't been in years, it would be interesting to hear from anybody who had visited it in recent years.
Like KB said, not like a "real" poultry show ;)

I think it's a real poultry show but I was disappointed with the number of birds. It did let me see the BSWs when I was thinking about getting them (which makes it a while ago).

Good morning! I don't mind snow or the winter as long as I'm dressed for it, but I'm not a fan of cold wind.

The Royal has really evolved since I used to go and show there in the 70’s. The Poultry show has really shrunk and seems to be just for show. Most of the exhibitors of many of the livestock don’t go to it any more because it’s really hard to find decent accommodation and transit and most now have larger show opportunities outside of TO so less hassle.

When they tore down the older cattle barn and added the new space they discovered cow urine on the new floor made a mess so now have moved all the cattle to the back and moved all the trashy Vendors and large commodity farm organizations to the front. It really is more of a marketing venue these days than it’s old feel of a fall Fair in the big city. But times change and they have to make it pay I guess....

I try and go but it gets less and less fun for me and find the local fairs more satisfying and much cheaper!

On the plus side, they have really expanded the 4H events there so mor kids have an opportunity to go and participate.

Hey KB yep I still have my Air Cast on for my broken ankle, pain in the butt!!

Thanks for the info on the Royal. I have been several times, usually when I take school groups. I just have never been the day of the poultry show.
