Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons...

Post by muffin » Tue Jan 19, 2016 12:02 pm

I am wondering who/does anyone breed these? I am thinking about getting several to have something different in my henhouse, and think the color is unique....how well do they lay, etc? Would love for anyone with them to PM me!

Muffin , over the past several years I have watched the English Orpington craze in North America with great interest . I would just like to say this on the subject. There is so little genetic diversity that quality birds are few and this has caused a lot of quality issues ,proceed with caution !!

I've seen a few people with them at swap meets, some very nice looking birds, I think in Ontario a few people have them from different sources Hopefully some of them will see your post and weight in.

I have 2 dozen eggs in the incubator, so far they're 91% fertile at last check, due to be moved into the hatcher on the 12th. Fingers crossed.

Skara Brae Farms in Campbellford carry them. It is owned by a vet and I believs they are very mindful of the genetics.
