morning everyone!
got a little bit of snow last night. love the looks of the fresh white on the ground and on the tree branches and fence posts.
tonight might be a split up the youngsters night :-) the boys are starting to practice their crowing and annoying the girls. plus my gold welbar laid her third egg (alas, it was not gold either) so time to get her into her final breeding pen with the correct boy, and the other girls. I haven't managed to find a blue wheaten ameraucana boy yet, so i'm going to switch out my old wheaten boy for a new wheaten youngster who seems to be growing in nicely. my old boy is done...shooting blanks at the age of 5 years. he's done a good job for me for the years i have had him. and my one ee that i thought was a girl is a BOY....grrrrr been masquerading! it crowed yesterday! still looks like a girl though. sigh. also have to replace my black tailed buff marans i lost a few days ago, i have several youngsters to choose from..just have to catch them and check feather edges and underfluff and leg colour.
should be lots of noise in the barn tonight. still getting turkey eggs, and our forecast is above zero all week next week! i'm enjoying having running water in the barn :-)
hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning all!
Bright and sunny here this morning, bit of snow last night, just enough to cover the dirty bits that came up after yesterday rain.
Heated waterers unplugged last couple days, sure haven't needed them much so far, and that isn't a complaint. :)
Canal closed for skating yesterday, hope it freezes for the wknd!
Have a safe one!

Good morning! Mild out.. but windy. Gary was out salting the skiff that fell in the wee hours. He was home about 1/2 hr before I was tho. The ones not salted were slippery. A bus driver skidded off the road. Honestly, obviously going too fast. Gotta feel like an idiot radio'ing that in. Only had one kid on. If you have to drive walking speed, then you do. And I do. And I don't fret one iota, if I'm late. At least I'm not sitting in a ditch. If someone runs me off the road, or if I have to swerve to avoid hitting someone, then thats different, of course.

I'm enjoying water not freezing in the barn too... although abit worried about this crazy weather. There are pussy willows out north of here, where I drive. Turkeys breeding/laying eggs. Bees were out flying yesterday. Cleansing flights mostly, but out anyhow. Hopefully with the mild weather, the bees survive. Didn't take honey off that hive last year, we had a swarm... too busy to have noticed with the wedding and stuff... but we had SO many bees in that hive last check, and when I put a pollen patty in there, I could hardly lift the top box. Lots of food in there. The hive is well wrapped and inside a shelter... so it doesn't get north winds attacking it, or west winds, really.

Fell going to my bus yesterday morning. GAWD now everything just hurts more than it does normally. Oh well. I was prepared for slipperyness, and went whomping down on my ass anyhow. Good thing theres lots of ass there, because I would have likely broken my hip otherwise. When I got home from the bus, I salted the hell out of the driveway from up near my house, to the shed, and over to where Dave and Jess live. Used a 5 gallon pail of salt. Stupid ice.

Kids are on exams this week, so early nights. I got home at 3:30pm last night, versus the usual 4 or shortly after. Nice. 3 kids on last night, so had to go all the way to Westover anyhow, but didn't have to jerk around all the concessions around it.

Someone came for a load of hay, and coming back for another, so I need to go print up an invoice. Just remembered, lol.

Hope everyones day is going well!

ha ha. don't ask colleen. :-) i prefer the needle and thread method. or the "swim" trick. or the flip it upside down and see if it tried to kill you method. oh....i could go on and on and on....
Ross, i can witch for water. problem is, my hands hurt too much to hold the witchin stick, so it twists out of my hands and falls on the ground and is useless. LOL.
i knew he was a boy...i was just in denial. that's my story and i'm stickin to it.
