Diligently follow the path of two swords as one. Percieve that which the eye cannot see. Seek the truth in all things. Do not engage in useless activity.

It looks so big and empty out there now without the sheds....last of the roofing stuff going into the bin. Full bin....will get them to pick up on monday. Then sweeping for nails and screws for the next few days. Maybe get the garden in tomorrow since we did the bulk of the cleanup today. Got more done than we thought we would. Still need to rip out greenhouse foundation tiles and take apart the shelves and get them out of the garden. Strawberries and all the herbs are dead today....so those will.get shovelled out tomorrow likely and have to find a spot for compost. And my composter burnt so need a new composter....

In case you need a "Soil Saver" composter, I found the best price on one was at Home Hardware. Had to order it online and have it delivered to the store for pick-up.

So we had a huge scare on Wednesday night. Those were two sheds, a chicken tractor (without chickens) and a greenhouse. Thanks to the fire department we were able to stop it from spreading to the barn with all the livestock and the house. Soooo lucky that there were no critters or people hurt. And the damage is relatively small, too. Flames were impressive though. I have never felt such a hot fire before. And the neighbours were able to see the flames shoot above the trees. We had a very strong south wind that fueled it on pretty crazy but also pushed it away from the barn and the house.
So, now we have a bit of cleanup to do. Garbage bin is sitting in the driveway and tractor is calling my name.... Off to cleanup
Well, that just sucks...but ya know, there might be karma at work...in a good sense this time...there's an old adage that i tend to cling to..it goes something along the lines of " be careful what you build, because once you do, its not coming down anytime soon"...so you may have been given the opportunity to get things the way you'd like...just a thought... :run:

So sorry to hear about your fire, @poultry_admin and @WLLady . That must have been so scary. Thankfully there were no injuries or fatalities. Fire and flood are two things that can really wreak havoc. Horrible. At least your house and barn were spared.
Kathy, I hope that the running you had to do won't have any negative repercussions for you. How is your back today?

Its not doing too badly considering...but its not happy either. But i would do it again if i were in a similar situation!! So its not THAT bad. Lol.

Almost finished with the cleanup. Tons of screws and nails to get up. Friends are coming to help and bringing their sweeper magnets and we have one here too...i need to finish removing the greenhouse flooring...and the brick stairs need to move from the house because the house siding is being done starting this week (which means it will likely-hopefully-rain). Farrier stopped by yesterday amd loaned us a rake which was awesome, it will help with the clean up for sure. The bin is filled and now its just torched firewood to the bush and a lot of shattered brick (cinderblock doesnt do heat apparently) will also go to the bush. And DH is going to pull out the outdoor furnace with the tractor....its weird i keep thinking i will just go and get x from the shed....um...nope...
Our property looks so much bigger!!

On a chicken note my chicks somehow got out of the brooder last night and were all over the basement this morning. Dont think i lost any to the cats....(cats were out all night)....silly things. Was going to move them to the trailer coop to grow out but afraid thats in the bin so now i need to make a spot in the barn before they get too big....hmmmmm

Oh my goodness, so sorry to hear this. How terrifying! Wonderful that no people or animals were hurt and your fire department was there fast enough to prevent further damage.

@TomK congratulations it’s a boy! Lol. Assuming all the others do look like that top pick my guess would be same as yours! Lucky!
