Hens with holes on back

Re: Hens with holes on back
Well I don't like to put saddles on the hens but I have had a couple in the past get ripped pretty good. I find that they help while I am treating the wound heal from the rooster and any of the hens wanting to have a pick at an open wound without having to separate them while it heals.

Paula, where do you get these saddles?
Ross. Here is a pic. Like I said he's still under 1 year?
Correction to my post earlier. Locked inside at night. In or out daytime
Thanks

Spurs don't look bad , maybe file flat if think it is him & blunt the toe nails & square up his beak . If not wanting fertile eggs right now separate him . Then you'll know for sure . Luck

Well his spurs are still small and rounded in shape so I would suspect it's his toe nails.
I had a lady make my chicken saddles and she shipped them to me. If you want to borrow a couple of mine you can

Forgot to mention, the quick (?) or vein is extremely close to the end of the nail- closer than for dogs.

Re: Hens with holes on back
I might have to break down and put one of those saddles on her
I feel so sorry for her
Both hens that this has happened to are white
Maybe if I spray all the hens the same color "Earl" won't choose the same few all the time. Lol
