I mean no disrespect, but I don't know if we need 'to get it' ... It's a choice made by many for whatever their reason and it is what it is. I wouldn't want to be questioned why I did put my town in, so I surely wouldn't question why someone didn't or why they were vague about it.

The last thing that was my objective, was to upset anybody by my post. I totally respect everybody's view on this! Thank the good Lord that we live in the greatest Country in the world and can give our opinions openly and freely. I guess I am "old school" and still trust and respect most of the people in our Country. I know that there are some "bad" ones amongst us, but they are few and far between. I was not referring to putting a members address on PTO, just a location or town. If someone ever shows up at my place with the "wrong intentions", they would get a lot more than they bargained for!! Bring it on! I have been in the Poultry/Pigeon/Rabbit hobby for a hell of a long time and I can truly say that 99.9% of these fanciers, are some of the best people in the world! The only thing we should fear, is fear it self! Have a great day.

This was one of my Moderator duties on PSO was to make sure every member had their location added to their profile. Used to get the odd nasty PM's when asked to please add it. I can totally understand not giving exact locations (I like my privacy too) but general area is always nice especially if you are selling in the classified section.

Well, as a moderator on PTO, it would be nice to have a general location (something a little more specific than "ontario") listed on everyone's profile. We do already screen everyone trying to register-but that is by no means very very stringent, and it's possible that "meanies" could get in, we do our best to prevent that, but i'm not going to say it won't ever and can't ever happen. For me it's a "great and nice to have", but not a "must have". From supervising quite a few diverse people at work, sometimes the battles picked to be fought need to be realistic and have return....there are some fights that just are for the sake of it, and that is where a location fits in for me....it would be nice to have, but will the board/world/forum continue unscathed if we only have an approximate location or maybe none at all? sure it will....So, we leave it up to folks to decide what to list'. if they don't want to share a location, then when they have to drive 10+ hours for a bbq they can't complain because no one knew. (at least that's my view). personally i wouldn't put my exact 911 address location anywhere, including facebook (did you know that facebook also will store your driver's license number, credit card numbers and expiry dates and your SIN number??!! Identity theft on a screen....all packaged up and ready to go. LOL.)

It would be nice for folks to list where people are roughly, the postal code area (first 3 letters/numbers), the police station, nearest town or even just the district you live in. so, "nice to have" everyone's approximate location-even just eastern, central, south central or south western ontario would help......

My main thing last year was a few older folks wandering up to the house saying they remembered having turkeys running around as a child and how they tasted and would I have any for sale at Thanksgiving/ Xmas. Had a few lovely chats that way!

I put muy location, town etc in when I registered. It doesn't seem to come up on my computer. Not sure if it comes up on someone elses when I post? If not, how do I get it to, also, how do I post a picture of me or my birds to come up when I post?

Your right your location is missing. Click on your name at top right then on user control panel. then click on profile and enter your location and anything else you want to add or update then click submit on this page before clicking anywhere else.

Ok so heres an how to for your avatar... you can send me a pic for resizing if you cant figure it out... I would send it back to you to upload it as I dont have access to upload to a users profile.... I can delete stuff but not replace it.

I personally think it should be mandatory to have a location, what's up with saying someone could come to your farm, you are rural, your location is the nearest town you would have to do a lot of hunting to find your farm. You are not listing a mailing address or a GPS address. On any property people could see you have chickens, ducks, turkeys, horses etc and drop in, they don't have to be on any website Site to see that.

Personally, i hate mandatory...as i stated before, i dont have a problem with putting in my general vicinity but there are a few folks that are very insecure on the web...and rightly so...and its not my business to tell them otherwise...my thought is that if i wanted to be here on PTO but had a reservation about giving up my location for whatever reason, and the admin insisted, then I would lie...simple...i mean im here in the Crosby/Portland area and thats fine but i could have said Belleville and no one would be the wiser...like i said, mandatory is irksome and moreso when its not really important... Nuff said by me..
