Re: What's missing from the forum??
That's actually a good point about the "good morning!" thread, @thejonesboy . I hadn't thought of it from a new member's perspective before. It doesn't affect me really, because I generally browse through any unread posts in the "good morning!" thread whenever I check in on the forum, but others viewing/navigation habits may differ, especially those new to the forum who may not necessarily have found their way around the site's format yet.

Re: What's missing from the forum??
I second that, good point TJB!! I love the way threads, especially "good morning" tends to ramble and wander much like an in-person conversation would...but I can see how frustrating that might be for someone looking for information or trying to gauge the atmosphere of the group.

Re: What's missing from the forum??
i disagree. so now I have to think and put my discussion in the right place? hmmm...maybe
"good morning" is more of a "what you doing today" like a bunch of us drop in for a coffee. it should be free to drift anywhere it goes. its the only thread I am guaranteed to read. maybe rename it to "old farts discussion". that's what it is to me and how I will continue to use it.

Re: What's missing from the forum??
I need to step in here.
This topic is asking for ideas how to counter trends we see. I don't think we want to get into discussing if this idea is better than another.
We (admins) will take all ideas into consideration and review the pros and cons (that every suggestion has) and determine from there where we go and what we do. If we can't decide we may have a poll for everyone.
This obviously means that if we make a change to something, someone will not be happy with it.
I don't want to have someone too shy to post an idea because someone else might be against it. I'd rather get all the ideas out and decide later.
And the re-organizing of the "social" vs. "facts" parts is clearly on the table.
Change implemented:
The email to people not active for some time (90 days) has been activated last night. I'll add the survey to it later today or tomorrow.

Totally agree, accept for the old farts part, perhaps some young farts would feel left out?baronrenfrew wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 1:20 pmi disagree. so now I have to think and put my discussion in the right place? hmmm...maybe
