Pulled a tick out of the indoor/outdoor cat this afternoon...it’s winter!!! Or is this just a sign spring is coming?!

I got handed an egg this morning. Nothing special about the egg except that my husband found it before the dog did...but what WAS remarkable was that as he put it in my hands, he said "You should hatch this." I still can't believe I heard those words, even 14 hours later! I thought I better write it down and have him witness it, just in case later on he claims he never said it!
Soooo, if I fire up an incubator, it's HIS fault, right???

Wind walker, that is my all time goal...to go and gather an egg or two and hatch them out myself. Or order that very special egg, and raise up that peeper!

Nothing like it and it NEVER gets old. Just be prepared for the house to be full of baby dust before they go out!

www-go for it! allow yourself to be enabled! there's nothing wrong with admitting that sometimes you need a gentle nudge in the right direction.....ha ha!

well, i bought a little pump air rifle....and learned how to shoot it. and there's remarkably fewer birds in the barn this morning! YAY! i still have to get started on the wire along the eaves though....because the bird poop is unbelievable. i've taken to parking the truck outside now. and tarps over the equipment. but i need better than 2C to pressure wash things.....because i would like it to dry some day!

our log splitter is still being a PITA. need to get someone to rebuild the carburetor. i'm tired of it cutting out right in the middle of splitting. we did drag out another 5 or 6 logs yesterday. one was a really bad dangerous hung up tree....the top was snapped off and hung up in the next tree and when we started cutting the base the base basically splintered and dropped onto the saw....so we need a new blade for the chainsaw. bent it. argh! but we got the thing down so it's not a danger for being in the woods anymore. figure we have a good 10 cord sitting in logs ready to be split and stacked, so my hubby was saying "next winter can come", and i'm just thinking "can we get rid of THIS winter first??!"

my barred rock boy is shooting blanks. sigh. guess i need a new one. but the last one i had met the crockpot after taking one too many chunks out of my leg. so. ah well. maybe this weekend i'll move around my barred rock hens into other breeding pens and open up the outside coop for the ones i'm not using in breedings. i have a welsummer with a wry tail. of course, she's got GORGEOUS colouring. lol. and a rhode island that cannot be with a boy....because she stresses herself out so much that she hides in a corner and never comes out (she's fine with other hens though) and a chantecler mix that i'm not breeding because i don't need all white birds next year.....and a few others that aren't accepting the boys, but lay well. so maybe i'll get up the energy to do all the chasing around next weekend.

onwards. new week, new day! sun is shining and it's looking to be nice. the swans are migrating, huge flocks going over last night...sounds nice!

Well putting this in the good morning thread because it is. I got all the birds vaccinated for ILT and Ivermectined without too much mutilation to self. Even caught the turkey hen I'm sending to Jan easily. DH was gobsmacked as I carried her out of the coop! I kind of smell funny now though and may need a shower LOL!
