We're still in the midst of a pandemic here. I am at the tail end ( still fatigued and coughing), but 9 yo son in the thick of it. We are pretty sure "it" is influenza A. The way our symptoms were and how the illness played out ... And we never did get our flu shots in the fall ( figures too).
Time for me to find a job. Been a stay at home mom for 10 years. Been thankful for the time, to my husband for being able to support us all. Not looking to go back to my career, just need something part-time with flexible hours to work with my schedule. Haven't really figured out yet what I want to do .... A bit overwhelming!! But we need me to work to keep our comfort level. Hubby needs a new truck, and I want to go on vacation. Really though, I would prefer to keep my cushy home job with the dogs and chickens and continue to just do volunteer work!

Hmmm free chicks bvf? Lol. Yeah, its your cold lol. But i think martin brought it home from teaching at the college, he incubated it over christmas and i got it over the holidays and it just will NOT leave....gah

Nice fire going tonight. Nice and warm inside. Chores are done, birds are all happy. I think i have selected a new boy to replace the one from last night. And a replacement wheaten ameraucana....need to do some pen cleaning this weekend. Looking forward to seeing the box for the sportsman with clawton tomorrow lol.

Had the most ridiculous parcel arrive today. This box is HUGE-i could fit both dogs, 3 cats and 2 small people in this box....and inside were 2 heated buckets and MOUNDS of packing paper lol. They sure didnt save money on that shipping, thankfully i didnt have to pay shipping for this one!!

Sorry to hear about the :cowmuh: today bvf. Glad she made it on the trailer though and it wasnt more difficult to move her.
Have a great night everyone. Dean, i hope you are partying.... :drunk:

good morning! the SUN is actually coming up in a CLEAR SKY today! yay! I must admit, there is one thing i hate about SW Ontario and living between a bunch of lakes...the dark and cloud all winter long. feels like a long time since we saw the sun. but today is the day! yay!!!!! sunrise was gorgeous! the days are getting longer, and i can tell now, there's light on the horizon shortly after i get up, not after i get to work LOL. Can't wait to see some production on our inverters too TomK!

well, new buckets work great. replaced the thermostat in my one heated dish last night, waiting on the glue to set, will test it out during the weekend and see how it goes. all the birds were happy this morning, some sunflower seeds and all kinds of happy chatter.

off to find some caffeine. hope everyone has a great day!

Today is today. That's about all I have to say.

Nah!!! Yall would be so lucky.

I have a stupid cold that is challenging my to-do list every day this week!! I definitely feel better outside in the crisp cool air but appreciate coming in to the warmth of the wood stove. I just want it to go away!!! Loading up on probiotics and oregano oil ... But I'm not quite winning the battle.

I gave up my part-time job. This is the first week of not doing it. I have so much work with my 'full-time' job going on I was drowning and I'm dangerously falling behind. So .. For now ..one job.

Silkies turn to free range today and the others are all penned. Pretty sure I heard death threats being sent to the silkies through fencing. I just love my Silkie group. 8 pullets and 1 Roo. My rescue girl is doing wonderfully. Some of her feathers are growing back that I had cut away and she looks like a hot mess but she's healthy, chatty and bonded to others. Mission accomplished!

My Barred rock Roo has dropped some of his long tail feathers and grown some white fluffy leg feathers. This is ? A soft moult?

No sun over here today Kathy ... But we had sunshine all day yesterday, so I guess it only fair we share.

Bitch fest: Problems with new truck. Driving me nuts!!! Front cameras are fried. First went in at 500km's for front camera codes. They do the typical bull paddies and say if it happens again bring in and we'll have to replace. You KNOW it's going to do it again ... So truck is in. Again. Got word yesterday it needs new front camera and sensory things ... Duh! .. Earliest is April! Umm. Wow! Then we have the windshield issue. There is a display that comes up on the windshield if you're going to collide or have someone hit you from behind. Well this display screen in the windshield has distorted the vision - on the drivers side only ... So we're dealing with GM on that. Cause you know. I have all this extra time to take on the auto industry. Blah!

I'm stressing over my Ameraucana and EE switch over. Part of me says to just do chicks, but I really prefer the silkies - foster moms to raise babies and teach them the tricks of the trade. El naturelle. So I'm waiting to see and sort my timing. My one Silkie porcelain pullet will run as soon as you walk towards the coop and once you lift her egg out, she'll squawk at you all the way out of the pen. I'm thinking she is My first bet for broody mom ...

I did want to add marans the the egg basket until I found out about the flesh in the eggs. Ill pass.

Hope everyone has a great day!

gm dosent care anymore... I mean why should they when they have more money than most of the worlds countries. this will be gms downfall... and thats why I like proven technology and will stick with 97-99 gm/chevy. do you have the 5.3l with afm? if so you gotta get that afm shut off or you will kill your engine anywhere from now to under 80 000 kms....

Im on GMTruck club... I recommend you join up Sandy... check this thread out http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/thread ... ms.112629/

Good Morning all, it's sunny and sparkly here, what more can one ask for in January?
Somebody scraped my bumper in the parking lot and actually left an apology and their name and phone number, enough to restore you faith in humanity ;) didn't think people did that anymore.
Some hard decisions to make in the breeding pens today, so up and at it...
Have a safe one.

Sandy, used to do the silky hatching bit, until it dawned on me that 4 chicks at the time with possibility of 1-2 pullets, would take a VERY long time to make a flock. ;) Just saying...
