Well DH has a BIG birthday today so I am getting him his usual (and favourite) birthday dinner of Toad in the Hole, Baked beans, mashed potato and gravy!

Happy ME!! was on call for jury duty today but found there were no jurors needed today!!!! Snow storm predicted for tomorrow so going out early to bed the barns and close up curtains...snuggle bedding for all those mommas in waiting....blizzards do tend to bring on calving.
Found one of my favorite hens dead in the henhouse on sunday morning, by the door with her head down a rat hole about 3 inches in diameter....picked her up, my last crested cream legbar, and her head and neck are chewed off...craw is even chewed out but whatever it was couldn't get her out the hole. Yesterday I found my other favorite, a pretty speckled flower hen in the same situation...opposite wall but head pulled out a hole and chewed off. NEVER had critter problems with my hens...had them more than 2 years now. Don't see how a fox could get inside that small of a hole. Thinking a weasel easily could but a weasel wouldn't have stopped with only killing one, 14 more sitting on the roost. I've heard skunks can get through any hole their head fits through....I've smelled faint musky aroma in the area several times in the past couple weeks...any thoughts?
