Tricky walking and i won't be surprised to see reports on hip fractures go up....oh well...its February and we've had the January thaw...

Re: Good Morning!
So since some of you are painting and redecorating I thought I'd share a photo of our dining room. I wanted to put this colour up on one wall last year but didn't get to it. Well I bought it. The room is fairly bright and sunny until around 2pm and the walls are palest grey. All my furniture is white. I was thrilled with the way this citrus came out when I put it up, it made me smile when I saw the overall effect. DH said he couldn't believe what a difference it made. It's much more "us". So next project is one wall of our stainless and white kitchen in the same colour.

Re: Good Morning!
Very nice, amazing what a bit of color will do, although I liked it before too :)
It was +5C yesterday aft, when I took the walk for a walk, -14C this morning, windchill -25C
Crazy making weather, keep warm!

Re: Good Morning!
my "ready to burn" woodpile was depleted in record time this year. the wood I have outside isn't as dry as the ironwood standing dead so now i'm scrounging the forest for more. (at least my forest will be clean of dead stuff) and these snow conditions are good for cutting and cleaning the hillsides (and here its all hillsides).
this year i'll have to build more roofed wood storage.

Very pretty colour KB. Cheerful too!
We once bought a condo that had an orange wall going up the stairs - something I would never have thought of. It was great and gave the open-plan living room a lovely sunny feeling. The wallpaper on the opposite wall was black outlines of flowers with the occasional orange flower filled in. So not us. So artsy and sophisticated, but we enjoyed it :).

Re: Good Morning!
Bert...i get to that point on occasion...there are always some dead ash trees that need taking down so thats my go to solution...dead ash burns pretty well....i just found a huge maple down in the bush so there's half of next years wood..but maple needs drying...so the timing works... :running-chicken:baronrenfrew wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2018 1:29 pmmy "ready to burn" woodpile was depleted in record time this year. the wood I have outside isn't as dry as the ironwood standing dead so now i'm scrounging the forest for more. Re: Good Morning!
so now I have a "new to me" forest machine (snowmobile) and I have been in the forest two hours every day this week so I am getting back into "firewood" shape (stiff and sore, getting old) and making wood piles and given the low snow the tractor has been able to get to the woodpiles. but soon I will need a rig that the snowmobile can do solo: I have a big sled but its too narrow and will tip if loaded with wood. So I had the bright idea to use the body of an old wheelbarrow with a bit cut off the back as a skidding sled. we have lots of old chain and it saves me $300 instead of buying one. i'll post pics when I have them.

Gee, if it saves you $300, I'd say go for it! And remember to do shoulder rolls and shoulder twists (so twisting at the waist) to keep the muscles loose.baronrenfrew wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2018 7:35 pmso now I have a "new to me" forest machine (snowmobile) and I have been in the forest two hours every day this week so I am getting back into "firewood" shape (stiff and sore, getting old) and making wood piles and given the low snow the tractor has been able to get to the woodpiles. but soon I will need a rig that the snowmobile can do solo: I have a big sled but its too narrow and will tip if loaded with wood. Re: Good Morning!
And do not twist while lifting!!!
We were just talking this morning about dragging out some ash this afternoon but then the wind came up and it started snowing and we were longer at the vet than we thought we would be....(skeet is healing nicely but slow-cornea scratch...bad one). So we have wussed out. I finished painting the hallway and started in the livingroom (just to empty the paint tray). Maybe we will pull logs tomorrow. Had a scar tissue release massage yesterday and i hate my massage therapist today. Tomorrow will feel better i am sure. So if its not so windy tomorrow we will drop and pull dead ash. Still have lots of wood (about 10 face cords still) but the number of dead ash is the bush is staggering. Saw 4 pickup loads of wood on the move between here and strathroy this morning, so lots of people stocking up again!!
Also dog sitting this week and looks like we will be doing lots of shovelling....and getting cold again. Tis the season i guess. Someone should tell the groundhogs they got it all wrong again lol. Never understood grou dhog day anyways....its either a month and a half or 6 weeks if he does or doesnt see his shadow, so isnt a month and a half 6 weeks??
Good day to bakes some bread and hang out with hot chocolate i think. New clean shavings going into pens this afternoon and some extra sunflower seeds all around....
Have a turkey sitting on eggs.....strange birds this year. Been laying since christmas. And i need to get set up to hatch soon. Yay!
