Well water advice?

I got results by phone yesterday. Substantial amount of coliform and/or ecoli present. I'm assuming the actual test results will tell me which of the two or both are present. Wonderful. Getting another sample in today. In the meantime I'm still boiling like crazy....

Interesting. I didn't think bacteria would make water cloudy. They will likely tell you to treat the water with chlorine.

I think the cloudiness was simply ground water (complete with silt) that made its way in. The bacteria makes its way in with it. Just because your water is cloudy doesn't mean its contaminated with bacteria but when silt suddenly appears it means something got in your well that shouldn't have and you better test to make sure it's safe. In my case I guess I've been lucky for 20 years and now I'm not.

Not really that unusual, especially now that the weather is so uneven and the freeze thaw happens more often, ground shifts and once there is surface water getting in, its time to get her done.
What is unfortunate, is that at this time of the year its a bit of a pain in the butt.
I remember when we had our done, the submersible has a little filter / basket on the intake and the "well guy wanted us to see what was in there, just a lovely collection of sand/crystals looked very pretty..... and expensive.
Glad we have a long driveway, because when they dragged the hose out, it went all the way to the end of the driveway, now I know how deep our well is, same as the driveway is long.
