One of my Aussie pullets had white tail feathers after she was attacked by a dog before her adult moult. now she has done her first real moult she's back to pure black - still call her White Tip though LOL!

Oh and as an aside some of my young BSW Jakes had some tiny black feathers which moulted out on the moult to adult feathering!

This is definitely not an injury, especially as I am looking at one of the hens exhibiting the same color unevenness, also his Splash father may have something to do with it.
He is also quite light in the under fluff, although his cover feathers are a stunning blue.
It seems that whatever I do, I am still limited by the genetic material these birds carry, so back to "breed the best to the best and hope for the best"..........

Seems like it's not that unusual,
Here is a picture from "Feathersite" of a flock of Blue Wyandottes from Germany

That rooster and yours are darn near identical! So what will you do with him?

At this point I am going to breed him to his grand dams, to see if I he is silver based.
If he is, will keep him.
If he isn't will re-visit the question. ;)

Yes his father is Lucky two, will have to check my records before I put together breeding pens, it's starting to be a bit much keeping it all in my head. ;)

So Gill, it was too late in the day to make any kind of sense of what just occurred to me after you asked about Lucky two, then went thru my hatching records and then spent an hour making a family tree for the Blue Wyandottes and one looming error came to light.
Although the Blue hens (2013 hatch) are "Hamish" the Blue cockerel's Grand dams, they are also his dams. Damn it.
So here is my choice. Do I breed him to them anyway.............. or do I breed him to the Blue hens (2014 hatch) who are his aunts?
This is starting to sound like a country song, you know the one ;)

Breed to both sets of hens or single mate to your best female of each group .
