windwalkingwolf - totally get the smells being over powering.
Next time try a small dab of Vicks Vapor rub under the nose....it really helps.
( or steak juice....mmmmm - LOL )

Re: Sometimes you find willpower in odd places
Congrats, you are my hero!
It took me a year not to inhale deeply when somebody close by was smoking, apparently even second hand smoke was better then nothing.
It has been smoke free decades for me, and surprisingly the benefits are still popping up.
Once you reach a point when fast healing is important (fractures, dental implants, heart problems) almost number one question is...do you smoke ? Not that fast healing was my reason for quitting, but it's nice to still keep getting some accidental benefits. :)

Re: Sometimes you find willpower in odd places
For some reason I've been having cravings out of the blue this week. Hopped in my truck and all I could smell was cigarette smoke despite not smelling that for months. I've had several stressful moments pass that didn't send me speeding to the store to grab a pack...in fact I didn't even think about it until much later. That must be a good sign. 8 months now. Just re-read this thread to remind myself to keep moving forward.

All your senses are back working full time again . Odor in truck is still there . Yu got it beat , move on . Don't dwell on it . Get truck sanitized if you smoked in it .

Re: Sometimes you find willpower in odd places
One year smoke free.
Until last year I never thought I would say those words. Do I miss it? Yes and no. The thought of inhaling that crap is disgusting to me. But the fix that nicotine provided may always be missed in my life. That always terrified me when I heard former smokers say that and I used it as an excuse not to quit but what I didn't understand was that it's not like having a constant craving that you have to fight. It's a reminder every now and then of that satisfied feeling. It's like something missing that you can't really put your finger on.
I just want to say thanks to all of you who encouraged me to stay with it over the past year. You became a support group and I think that had I not actually voiced my goal and feelings along the way I may have more easily given in.
Cheers :)
