Re: Good Morning!
Oh, ugh, feel better soon, KB! And BVF, and Happy.
Temperature here is coming up some right now thank goodness. -40 got real old, real fast. I'm not under any illusions that there aren't more nasty cold spells coming, but it would be REALLY nice it it got no worse than a nice, balmy -20 LOL.

Have the guns out this am. Cows next door very upset, turkeys nervous about coming out. I guess the predators are on the move again. Eyes open guys.

At -40 the predators get desperate hungry. All their energy reserves gone.

Re: Good Morning!
Our next door neighbour called us at around 9 on Sunday night to say she had spotted a coyote (or something that looked like one) coming up their driveway, then coming across and up ours. She said our back light didn't come on so assumed that it had moved on up the road, but just wanted us to be aware. The chickens were secure in their coop as were the quail, but still unnerving. We've had foxes around before, but not coyotes. Would they be able to break into a coop?

Re: Good Morning!
If it won't hold up to a 100 lb. dog crashing into it or trying to rip it apart, then yes, coyotes can break in. Coyotes only weigh about 40 lbs., but are much more destructive and determined than any dog...and most of the coyotes in Eastern Ontario aren't coyotes at all anymore, but are "brush wolves" or a mix. Bigger and mentally deranged to boot.

And I think we established that there are "coydogs" from Ottawa South to the St Laurence as WWW and KB are south of you.
