The hardest thing about having dogs, letting them go, difficult decision every time, even when it's obvious it's their time.
My heart goes out to both of you.

Beagles are known to be: independent, persistent, "smart", stubborn, etc. Good qualities for a scent hunting dog but makes them hard to train and a total pita.

Obedient is not on that list.
@baronrenfrew she is the smartest dog I've ever known...in an evil, malicious, mad scientist sort of way.
She apparently runs deer like a champ but that means I tolerate her for 51 weeks so that she can do that for 1.
Like this dog?

Or this one?

Our dog Hobbes, was our "son of a beagle" and a lab. Ahh...the memories. I worked at Domino's and brought home two medium pizzas a vegetarian and something else. The vegetarian pizza disappeared while we were watching a movie in the living room: only one piece of olive and the empty box still on the table for evidence.
