Re: the ONE
Well, she took her sweet time, (6 month) but finally today a success.
1 1/2 oz egg, compare to a 2 1/2 oz egg from a two year old hen.

Re: the ONE
she was hatched June 19, so that is really late for a first egg...

Re: the ONE
OC - My brain is trying to think of how I can get my husband to build me more chicken housing for keeping hens and roosters separate.
I don't have a barn, so it's not an easy fix. I ended up last year getting rid of roosters that were almost old enough to butcher, as I was afraid of a rooster fight in the coop. (not good enough to keep as breeders) Hoping for a good one for you to work with! I find it difficult locating good Blue Ameraucanas.

Re: the ONE
I have a small barn, but it doesn't make it any easier to keep extra roosters.
Once they get past the 5 month age it's risky to keep them together even the laid back breeds like Wyandottes get to the point when they want to eliminate the competition.
Ameraucans having a bit mor "attitude" I wouldn't even trust them that long. :)
