Even better day today, progress-wise ...
Now that they are both eating their feed, they are much quieter, according to hubby. Last night I found an old guinea pig water bottle and I thought that since they had become used to drinking from something from above and still were not drinking from the waterer on the floor, that the water bottle might work. So we cobbled together a wire harness so that we could attach the bottle to the wall of the brooder.
This morning they were both drinking from it, no training required. Woo hoo!
I am wondering when to put a clump dirt and grass/weeds from the yard. This weekend maybe?

Clover and my babies love to pull a little lettuce apart. Just not too much at once.

Thanks, KB. I'll give that a try after I get home.

Geez maybe I've just been lucky but I give my little ones a chunk of grass/dirt asap unless it's good and hot out and then I get them on ground in a well sheltered spot in a cage with a cozy blanket to crawl into if they want. Only for short spells at first. I figure if Broody hens can do it then so can I lol.

These two had a bit of a traumatic start, I would give a try bit at the time like KB says, no point overtaxing their digestive system. :)

Couldn't agree more, OC
I'm taking KB's advice and taking it slowly with exposing them to stuff they need to build an immunity to. Starting with sticks from the yard as perches :-)

Cookie didn't make it. She died an hour ago. We are so sad that we lost her. RIP, little trooper.
Now we have to figure out how to keep Biscuit happy and healthy.
