and as windwalkingwolf says, nice you are ok with older birds-you get double yolkers with them as they get older-fewer eggs but more in them :)
I'd watch the "bunch" part though for your talks of adding in the spring.

Gidday, keep in mind that pullets are expensive in spring $10-20 per hen and cheaper in the fall ; depending on breed, age, quality (if show quality or hatchery quality); and auctions can be hit or miss; a lone "araucana" (not a show quality bird) hen sold for $65 at Mcdonalds corners last spring

Not to mention a guy near Guelph was advertising "mute" chickens on kijiji for $85 or more each. Its been a running joke here ever since.
