YES she is a "SHOWGIRL"....with a story ( of course )
Last year I drove excitedly drove to Fairsing to pic up some SHOWGIRLS.
( road closures & Market fairs made the 90 minute trip more like 2 1/2 hours!)

When I arrived Frances showed me her Fabulous birds.
I wanted 3 pullets ( 2 blue & 1 white )
Frances tried to direct me in how to chose the best ones....BUT there was one skinny ass, little pom SG who was the sweetest little thing.
I admit picking the SG with the smallest poof on her head is crazy, but I felt no one else would pick her ( yep sounds crazy even now - LOL )
Well I drove home with my 3 girls & quickly named them ( Lily, Tilly & Millie ( the little pom )

A few weeks later I found a weasel had killed the 2 Pretty SGs but Millie was fine.
In 14 years it was my 1st weasel attack - we spent the next 2 days closing up all the holes we saw.
I Really wanted SGs in my flock ~ so a month ago I made another trek to Fairsing.
This time Frances had only 2 white SG cockerels for sale.
I am now the Happy owner of a Handsome SG cockerel
With no white SG pullets, I had to buy 2 white silkies for him.

I am "TRYING" to be CALM, & wait until the time is right ~
but it is ALL I can do, to NOT set up my bator!!!!!!!!!
I usually visit my niece in Calgary for "MOM Day" in May
But hubby has laid down the law ~ he has NO interest "baby sitting" new chicks.
SOOOOOO I either move my trip up, cancel it or hatch @ a later date!!!!
I just don't know if I can wait til June for some SG chicks :rain:

OK done with my reply, my Story & my vent about my Hatching DRAMA - what to do

I thought I had it bad :D Just remember, the answer is always HATCH. Hatch now, hatch often, hatch all. Just in case :D

If you put the eggs in the incubator right now, they won't be little chicks in May! They grow fast.

I'd change the trip and then set to hatching right away! I sent hubby off with JimW last April to get my BSWs. He said "you don't trust me with the incubator do you?" I had an upcoming hatch that weekend so I needed to stay behind LOL!

Let's face it hatching is as close to giving birth as you can get, and really, who can delay that ?

I just paid the deposit on my order!

Chantecler - White - Mixed QTY : 5
Speckled Sussex - Female QTY : 5
Cornish - White Laced Red - Female QTY : 5
Barnevelder - Female QTY : 5

All this colour is going to be exciting after my plain ol' white leghorns.

HA HA HA HA ~ yep I LUV the answers.
Makes me feel an all consuming warm & fuzzy "kin-ship" with y'all :running-chicken:

Hubby will not let me leave if there is chicks.
( Last time he did, a silkie chick started to walk backwards & drag it's head. Hubby flipped out )
I would be sick with worry if I left Hubby with a bator full of prized eggs

My niece would kill me if I cancel completely

SOOOOOOOOO I have 2 options ~
WIN the Powerball & hire another babysitter for the chicks
OR book the trip a bit early.

Since I don't have a Powerball ticket....think an earlier visit is my best bet.
Could be we will still have winter until May anyway.
THANX for all the suggestions

( I LUV the idea of Hatch Often & Always ~ but where the heck do you put them all? )

Rubbermaid tubs, rabbit cages, dog houses with little hardware cloth runs, spare stall in barn wrapped in weldwire so rats can't get in, wooden crates, cardboard boxes :D Cardboard is my go-to for in-house brooding since I can burn the box when chicks outgrow it. I hate scrubbing lol
