I'm still hoping. Jaye have you seen the water candling method? Maybe you could try that first before putting holes in them.

I heard just above the air sack but I do it at the top, if the chick has broken through into the air sack you can easily injure it.Jaye wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 7:56 amStill nothing this morning. :-( Tonight I will look for movement. Not sure where to make a small hole if I do find life though: At the top of the big end of the egg, or just above where the air sac starts on the side?
If there's no sign of life in any of them, does anyone in the Ottawa area know of anyone that may have a couple of day-old chicks that I can buy to tuck under Gracie? She's been setting long enough, so I don't want to start over with more hatching eggs. I will need to to snap out of being broody, so I figure at this point the only way that will happen easily is if she has chicks to raise. We had a big wood chipper going for hours on Friday evening and most of the day Saturday and that didn't snap her out of it, so I think it will be a challenge to break her broodiness if it comes to that. I don't have bagpipes either.![]()

Thanks, Happy. Feeling pretty low atm. It will be better for both of us tomorrow if one of the Kijiji ads pan out.
