Anyone else remember Fairsing Farm's "Thelma" on PSO? She is one gorgeous Showgirl!

About Performance Poultry, I looked into PP when I was starting out, and would have loved to have ordered a mixed flock from there. However, the minimum order for any breed is 5, and no option to mix breeds within a minimum order; i.e., you can't order one of each, and the maximum flock size for me was six - (1/2 acre backyard chicken keeper). I think there are probably other backyard chicken keepers around that have a limit on the number of chickens they can keep (like from Kingston, for example), who might consider ordering from them if a mixed order of 5 were offered.

Yes I remember her! I didn't associate the bare neck with the whole bird.

Aaaggghhhh I can't decide, I keep crossing stuff off but then changing my mind! Anyone know if Doug has black silkies and will be selling chicks? If so, I can cross them off.

I want to order some old English game bantams from these folks, can you get good show/breeders from a hatchery or is it mostly pet quality you will get? I guess the larger the numbers the better the odds

I will try that, I'm still going to order some just to have the variety and take a gamble

Oh yes, some VERY good breeders of games right here on this board! Which is why I crossed the Moderns off my list LOL
I've got my list whittled down now to 3 breeds, 35 chicks. Don't need Houdans since a couple people from my area are getting them or already have. Yay me!

I plan to order 10-15 Mottled Houdans, plus another 10 chicks of 1 ore 2 other breeds.

I figured from 15 Houdans I will hopefully end up with a few to keep as breeders, plus the dozen Houdan hatching eggs from another hatchery and my 2 roos and 1 hen I already have, should give me a nice little group to work with. My 1 Houdan hen has not laid yet, but my roo is breeding up a storm.

Not sure what other breeds yet, not for breeding just to add variety to my layer flock.

Count on pet quality, not show, from any hatchery, for most breeds. If you buy larger numbers, you may get lucky.
If you are looking for show/breeder quality, you are much better off buying from breeders here, as WWW said.
