I don't really have any work ethic... someones got to do the work. Theres simply NO one else around here. He has his jobs... and I have MY jobs and HIS jobs. His jobs don't include housework, bookwork, shopping, banking.... making stuff for a get to gether..... blah blah

Of course you have work ethic, that's the part where you do the work because it needs to be done and you know it better be you or it won't get done.
If you didn't have work ethic, you would wait for somebody else to do it, knowing well it won't be done....

Had a lovely visit with KB and her DH, and Katleen and the babies, while being relentlessly paid attention to by Stephen, I must say I have never had a problem handling large horses and dogs and teenage boys, but I do find a turkey in full regalia a bit intimidating, pretty sure that's why he kept following me, or he just thought it was playing hard to get?

Good evening. It was a nice day here today, too bad I had to work, oh well only 27 school days left until summer holidays, I am not counting or anything though!!

I went for a little road trip today, since I have been having issues with incubator humidity being too high and can't seem to get it right, and as a result having several terrible hatches I decided to make the trip to Mill Pond Hatchery after school today to drop off a few eggs for them to hatch for me, while I play around with a few eggs at home to figure out my humidity issues. It was a bit of a drive 2.5 hours each way, but hopefully I get a decent hatch from them. Plus they only charge 30 cents an egg for incubation. So I dropped off 7 dozen eggs (BC marans, legbars, olive eggers, houdans, ayam cemani and bielefelder x legbar).

While I was at Mill Pond Hatchery I ordered 25 White Rock meat chicks for pick up in 3 weeks when I return to fully pick up a good batch of my chicks.

Working on building some new brooders this week.

I did not see much of the place. But so far customer service seems good I called to double check what time there were open until since I was not going to make it until around 5:30 pm. The guy said they live on the premises someone is usually in the hatchery until close to 5:30, but if nobody was they when I got their just leave my eggs on the table in the front room of the hatchery. When I got there they were in the front room of the hatchery putting together chick boxes. I dropped off my eggs, ordered my meat chicks and left. The front room of the hatchery seemed clean and organized, so appears to be a good operation from what I can tell so far.

Given the size of her chest, I'm somewhat surprised that she got her head in there. On the other hand, she is a working dog and they tend to be quite determined.

Yay for duckies! They should be great foragers and layers for you :)

SMelly start to the morning. Kim (broody BSW) didn't get out of the coop in time and ed all over, eggs , coMama etc. Not sure if the eggs will make it now. WIped them down, cleaned out the area and she's back now. Looked almost embarrassed poor girl. Eggs due to hatch next weekish.

My silkie ed all over her eggs, wouldn't get off the nest, they were disgusting. I washed them off they still looked awful but out of 9 eggs, 9 chicks.

Good morning!
Set a Splash Ameraucana hen on 10 eggs on Wednesday, she has been clucking for more then a week, so hope she will stick.
It's the same hen that went broody before she was a year old and on Kenyas recommendation I gave her a chance (first time I have used Americana to hatch eggs) she turned out to be a good mother (10 out of 10 Wyandotte eggs) that was 2014, now 3 years later she has another chance, this time 10 Ameraucana eggs.
Finally feels like spring :)
