PIKNIK 2017 is 600 km each way for me. But if the date works out I will be there!!!

My parents live about 1/2 hour away so will plan a visit to see them as well, plus only 1/2 hour from Lake Erie, so planning on trailering my boat and hopefully get in some walleye fishing as well!!!

@JimW port Glasgow is a good place for you to put the boat in.
As Kathy said, we have space for trailers. We had power to 3 camper vans a few years ago. And have a few more power cords now :rofl:

Yep Glasgow is my normal fishing spot when I am down there, done quite well over the years there.

Jimw-port glasgow is 20 minutes or so from us and has a super ramp/launch facilities. Look up rodney and its due south. Awesome rainbows out there too.

Thanks WLL, I have fished out of glasgow many times, we like it due to the sheltered launch.

OK, don't want to be in any poop , but trying to understand the "MAP & Location" stuff for the BBQ.
PLZ don't ban me, or throw eggs.... just think some how I misundertood, was drunk or something.

The SOUTH CENTRAL map says it goes no further E than Oshawa,
& no further W than BURLINGTON
Yet Strathmore is 2 to 3 times as far...????
( Strathmore actually looks like it is in MIDDLESEX in zone 1 )
Did I miscalculate the Area map on the 1st page of the poll?
Has the PikNik been changed to SOUTHWEST area?
:Shark: sorry, just trying to figure this out :castaway:

Kathy and Martin generously offered to host the Piknik at their place in West Lorne. There is now another poll for which weekend.

Strathmore actually IS in middlesex LOL-my farm is 10 minutes off the 401 north of west lorne. Yes, we did offer to hold the BBQ this year. we were unsure at the time of the poll because i had just gotten through my back surgery, and honestly up until just about 2 months ago i had no idea if i would be well enough to help host this year. But, happily, things seem good! The big "problem" with ontario is this huge honking busy city sitting right in the middle of it, that one cannot get around anymore without driving way north.....best solution is to have it somewhere in the barrie or just east of barrie area, but then we'd likely have to rent a place campground or pavilion at a conservation area, and we (the forum) do not collect money to do things like this. So someone (everyone) would be paying out of pocket, not to mention time and energy invest to get everything arranged. with that said, if someone wants to go all out and organize etc, go for it and we'll host next year! ;-P from february to may nothing really happened on the planning, so when i decided i felt better i just offered to host at my farm. we have lots of room, people coming from afar can stay overnight etc. now, if we want to try to get somewhere central then someone with some idea of the area will need to step up - i don't know of anywhere we wouldn't have to pay to stay, and honestly time is an issue right now with 3 hours/day physiotherapy, working and all the other stuff we're doing-keeping tabs on dad's treatments and moving and family coming to visit from germany in august etc etc.....
In the future we could set up a donations system to collect for a bbq, but the business implications (business number, tax remittence, books, accounting etc etc would be needed if we start collecting money for things like this) are too big for us owners to take on at this time. we already have a farm, 2 other small businesses and fulltime off farm jobs. another accounting venture is not in my future. it's the same reason that we haven't moved more quickly on the PTO merchandise....we are still trying to figure out if we do that for cost to our members and do the take orders and order en masse with enough orders, or go ahead and invest our $$ and hope everything sells so we make back our $$. in the latter case, once again, it becomes a business.....anyhoo.....happy to do bbq at my place, this year. :-)

OK, so "now" I understand the how, why & wherefore :banana:
I'm SO glad you clarified for me WLLady.....& offered to Host the PTO GALA :yay:
Always knew you were a Special person :sSig_number1:

Sounds like even with a Poll, there has to be some one who Offers to host the event in that Winning area.

A few questions please -

How many folks come to the PTO PikNik?

Would it still work if there were NO room for trailers or over nite guests?

What kind of food is served (BBQ, or ?) & who pays for it?

Is there alcohol / children / pets?

Is a PikNik usually "POT LUCK"?

Would it be OK if there were a few PikNiks, thrown by random PTO members?

Would a PikNik have to get PTO approval before hand?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am Positive there will be more questions rattling around in my brain,
but for now I must get back to work. THANX again WWLady
